MOREMI BABY: THE UNTOLD STORIES AND HIDDEN REALITIES

Contrary to the news and gossips that went viral on the social media and newsprint publications about the gory incident of a female student who attempted ‘flushing’ a neonate at Moremi hall on Wednesday, 19th June, 2013 at around 6:52a.m; investigations have debunked the purported lies to expose the truth.

As gathered, Rotimi Oyinlola Diana, 22, is a 300L student of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development. The Omole estate student-resident in Mayfair explained that she was on campus on that day to squat with her friend for who resides in Moremi, Block B, room 103 for an examination she was supposed to have at 8a.m that morning.
Getting to campus late at night on Tuesday, it was learnt through the University’s Chief Security Officer (CSO), Mr. Paul Ogidi, that she could not immediately get herself something to eat but later resolved to buy beans cake within the hall premises.

Thereafter consuming the locally-made snack, Oyinlola complained severely of running stomach through the night and also urinated and stooled at regular intervals. She felt her stomach disorder owed to the fact of the bean cake (moin-moin) that she took the previous night.

At about eight minutes downside seven on Wednesday morning (6:52am), her roommates told her to get set so that she could be taken to the school health centre for proper medical care, which she consented.
The story, however, changed when she told her companion that she wanted to visit the toilet again. She was ushered to the toilet and told to get the roommates informed whenever she was through with the loo.
Oyinlola was in the toilet for several minutes and her friend, Shatope wondered was could have kept her that late at the loo. Shatope then decided to give Oyinlola a trail.
On getting to the toilet, Oyinlola had rationally locked herself inside- ‘for privacy sake’- but blood was seen flowing on the floor. Shatope, who was very scared on noticing this, called Oyinlola to know if everything was alright but all Oyinlola could say was that she (Shatope) should come inside to assist her. Shatope couldn’t enter the toilet because it had been locked by Oyinlola, who never knew she was on her way to deliver of her first child. In fact, she was at that moment very weak and could not make any move nor open the door. At this time, Oyinlola had delivered her baby boy inside the toilet.

Few minutes later, the attention of the hall cleaners at the block were called by the cries of the baby. They came to Oyinlola’s aid; who fainted shortly after she delivered the baby.
The two cleaners, Mrs. Shipebi Grace and Mrs. Cecilia Ologbenla explained that they forced their way into the toilet to salvage both the new-born baby and the mother.
They affirmed that: ‘she was not in any way attempting to kill the baby”.

In an interview with the Director of the University Health Services, Dr. Adebayo Irinoye said: “The girl and the baby are feeling very fine and the parents of the girl are around to also take care of their daughter and the new baby.

Irinoye explained that such case is not new because there have been so many instances of patients’ delivery in the toilet. ‘I guessed it was inexperience because she obviously was not aware of her due date which medically would have been July”. Dr.Irinoye, however said the baby was not delivered prematurely.
In a similar reaction, the Chief Security Officer, Mr. Paul Ogidi said: “She was not attempting to flush the baby, but, looking at the circumstances surrounding the birth of the child, one is likely to think it is so. When I visited the Health Centre this morning (Thursday, 20th June), she was in a good spirit; breastfeeding her baby. If she had the intention to kill or flush the baby, she would have aborted it a long time ago”.
Meanwhile, in an exclusive chat with the lady, Oyinlola Rotimi at the University Health Centre, she disclosed that she knew she was pregnant but only confided in some of her friends and the father of the baby, who is a Mechanical Engineering student of the Ivory tower (name withheld).

“Why would I flush or kill my baby after going through the pains of carrying it for good nine months. I’m not heartless and I thank God for my life and the safe delivery. I know God has the best for me and my baby. I seriously appreciate the cleaners for their help because I got here (the health centre) before I could understand everything that happened to me but now, I’m happy I’m alive and my baby is alive too” Oyinlola concluded.

We hereby appeal to the University community to lay aside religious sentiments and rift that might have erupted due to this incidence but embrace the spirit of oneness and consciousness to maintain the University’s lofty heights; as we shall continue to ‘Assert the Strength of the Pen, anywhere and anytime.’a

It's North West! Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's daughter's name is leaked... but they'll call her Nori for short

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have named their baby daughter North West.

Sources close to the couple confirmed the decision, which comes five days after Kim welcomed her first child at a hospital in Los Angeles.

The revelation ends the intense speculation over the child's name, with other rumoured options said to include Kaidence Donda, in honour of Kanye's late mother.

And a source told UsWeekly that the couple have already given their daughter a nickname - she will be 'Nori for short'.

They added that the child has no middle name.

TMZ witnessed a signed birth certificate with the name North West signed by Kim, 32, and Kanye, 36, at Cedars-Sinai hospital.

People magazine confirmed the news with a source close to the Kardashian family.

The name North had previously been suggested as a possibility for the child, although many Kardashian fans had dismissed the idea as a joke.

And the revelation certainly proved fruitful amongst Twitter users, as North West began trending within minutes.

It also sparked a slew of jokes from would-be comedians amused by the choice.

Back in March, Kim denied rumours that Kanye wanted to name the baby North.

‘I do like Easton, Easton West,’ she joked on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno at the time.

Indeed prior to the baby's birth on Saturday it had been expected that the pair would continue the 'K' theme that runs in Kim's family - which is something that Kim has spoken about in the past.

Man Arrested For Swallowing Wraps Of Heroine

The NDLEA (National Drug Law Enforcement Agency) has arrested a suspected drug trafficker, Nweke Nwobodo, for allegedly ingesting 126 wraps of heroin at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

“The drug, which weighed 2.225kg, is the highest single ingestion since January 2013,” the agency stated.

Mr. Hamza Umar, NDLEA Commander at the Lagos Airport, said narcotic officials placed the suspect on observation when he tested positive to drug ingestion during the inward screening of Qatar Airline passengers on his way from Pakistan.

The suspect from Ebonyi State confessed he joined the illegitimate business because he was duped of his money and needed to recover it.

The 33-year-old father of two said, “I sell electronics in Lagos but I lost $11,200 (N1.78m) to fraudsters. This affected my business and in the process of trying to get money to revamp my business I was introduced into drugs.

“If I had succeeded, I would have been paid N1.8m. I spent only one week in Pakistan. My only regret is my pregnant wife who is due to give birth soon.”

The NDLEA Chairman, Ahmadu Giade, expressed concern on the risk of drug ingestion.

He said, “The ingestion of drugs by traffickers is very disturbing because many have died in the process. Just a wrap is deadly and here we have one person ingesting 126 wraps of what could take his life in a few minutes. Members of the public should shun drug trafficking and report any suspected trafficker to the agency”.

The NDLEA boss said the agency would continue to frustrate any move to raise capital from drug trafficking

Dua's Layer : New Layer Discovered In The Cornea photo

Yippee!!! Science is at it again! You thought we knew all the parts of the human body shey? That nothing new can be discovered in the world of anatomy? Nah! You are wrong, a new part has just been discovered and Abiyamo.com is bringing it to you LIVE.

The newly-discovered part of the human body is a new layer in the human cornea. It is just 15 microns in thickness (which means it is an extremely thin layer) and it is situated between the cornea stroma and the Descemet’s membrane (go and revise ya histology of the eye jooor….lol!) But do not be deceived by its thinness, it is actually very strong and can withstand two bars of pressure. It is named DUA’S LAYER, and that is because it was discovered by PROFESSOR HARMINDER S. DUA, an Indian researcher and his team at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, and the news was released hours ago. The new layer was first mentioned in May 2013 in the journal, Ophthalmology.

The team was conducting transplant research on donated eyes when the discovery was made. Their discovery was confirmed by electron microscopy. The layer is rich in collagen and Professor Dua is very much excited (understandably). He says of the discovery: ”ophthalmology textbooks will literally need to be re-written.” Before now, scientists believed the cornea had just five layers:

-DESCEMET’S MEMBRANE

-CORNEAL EPITHELIUM

-CORNEAL STROMA

-BOWMAN’S LAYER

-CORNEAL ENDOTHELIUM

So, with Dua’s layer, we now have six layers. The cornea is the transparent front part of the eye covering the iris, pupil and other structures in front. Cornea is as smooth as glass and it is very durable. It assists in protecting the eyes by regulating and focusing the amount of light that enters the eye (as an external lens) and also protects the eyes from germs, dust and ultraviolet (UV) rays. When it is damaged, it can be replaced by transplanting from those who have donated their eyes (I hear Tinubu did that, and that his eyes should be removed after death, shey you go do the same? I can give you the address of the National Eye Bank in Kaduna o

SO WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS GREAT DISCOVERY?

The new layer will help surgeons improve the outcome for patients who are going for corneal grafts and transplants. Before the discovery, during surgical operations on the eye, tiny air bubbles are injected into the cornea in what is called the ‘big bubble technique’. Atimes, the bubble can burst and damage the patient’s eye. But now, by injecting the bubble UNDER the Dua’s layer instead of above it, the risk of the bubble bursting is reduced. In short, it makes surgery safer. But my Good People, me I have one question wey I one knack o: when are we going to start making discoveries like this for Obodo Naija?

Boy Kills Sister Using Wrestling Moves Learned On TV

Viloude Louis, who was allegedly killed by her 13-year-old brother when he performed wrestling moves on her that he had seen on TV.
Vilger Louis talks about his daughter Viloude, dead after suffered multiple injuries after her half-brother allegedly beat her.
A young teen beat his little half-sister to death using wrestling moves he’d copied from the TV, police claim.

Devalon Armstrong, 13, is accused of repeatedly slamming Viloude Louis, 5, onto a bed, punching her in the stomach, jumping on her back and elbow-dropping into her kidneys.

She suffered broken ribs, internal bleeding and liver lacerations from the brutal bashing at their Terrytown, Louisiana, home.

Cops say Armstrong was babysitting his younger sibling on Sunday afternoon when he decided to test out some moves he’d seen on World Wrestling Entertainment.

Later complaining of having a stomach ache, she went upstairs to brush her teeth — before being found by her brother 30 minutes later in crippling pain on the bathroom floor.

Realizing she was no longer breathing, Armstrong took her downstairs to the sofa and dialed 911.
Paramedics arrived on the scene but found her unresponsive. She was pronounced dead soon after.

As there were no outward signs of injury, Louis’s death was at first deemed “unclassified.”

But a coroner’s report released on Tuesday found she had died of multiple injuries.

Armstrong, who reportedly confessed to carrying out the moves, was arrested later that day on suspicion of second-degree murder.

He is currently being held at a juvenile detention center, reports The Times-Picayune.

Psychiatrists will now evaluate whether Armstrong is mentally able to participate in his own defense. A hearing is scheduled for next month.

naked mole-rat gives cancer clues

A rodent that never gets cancer could hold the key to preventing or treating malignant tumours, say scientists.
Lab studies show the skin cells of the naked mole-rat are high in a natural sugary substance that stops tumours developing.
The findings could lead to new human cancer therapies in the long term, researchers report in Nature journal.
A similar version of the chemical is used as a medicine to treat arthritis and in anti-wrinkle jabs.
A team led by researchers from the University of Rochester, New York, US, investigated the anti-cancer properties of the naked mole-rat.
Unlike other small rodents, such as rats and mice, the curious creature does not get cancer in later life.
Tissue repair
The US team, led by Andrei Seluanov and Vera Gorbunova, cultured skin cells from the rodent in the laboratory.
They found that the animal’s tissues were rich in high molecular weight hyaluronan (HMW-HA), a gooey sugar that is involved in tissue repair.
Similar versions of the substance are licensed to relieve pain in arthritis and are used as cosmetic fillers to treat wrinkles, say the researchers.
Experiments show that when HMW-HA is removed from naked mole-rat cells, they become susceptible to cancer, suggesting it plays a role in making the rodent “cancer-proof”.
Dr Gorbunova told BBC News: “Studying animals that are naturally cancer-resistant can be very rewarding and can lead to discovery of mechanisms that can benefit humans in terms of treatment and prevention of cancer.”
Flexible skin
The researchers think the substance gives the naked mole-rat its distinctive, elastic “baggy” skin, which it needs to squeeze through underground tunnels.
While it has probably evolved to provide the rodent with an exceptionally flexible skin, it also gives protection against cancer, possibly by stopping cancerous cells from dividing.
The next step, they say, is to test the chemical in mice, then human cells.
Dr Seluanov added: “There’s indirect evidence that HMW-HA would work in people.
“It’s used in anti-wrinkle injections and to relieve pain from arthritis in knee joints, without any adverse effects.
“Our hope is that it can also induce an anti-cancer response.”
The study, carried out with scientists in China and Israel, is published in the journal Nature.
No beauty
Commenting on the research, Oliver Childs of Cancer Research UK said new cancer treatments from the research were “a long way off”.
“They’re not going to win any beauty contests, but these curious creatures have long interested scientists because of their exceptionally lengthy life spans and resistance to cancer,” he said.
“This fascinating research builds on previous work revealing the biological tricks mole-rats have evolved to prevent cancer.
“It’s a long way off, but it will be interesting to see if further research can find a way to use hyaluronan to help prevent or treat cancer in humans.”

Rival Cults Hold Talks In UNIBEN

Calm is gradually returning to the University of Benin. From what I have been told, most members of the warring secret cults have gone into hiding after attacks in the past few days.

The popular Guest House of the University of Benin, which usually plays host to students who wish to relax, was empty on Saturday and Sunday. A waiter, who requested anonymity, complained that they have witnessed a serious drop in revenue because the students are scared.

This has been the biggest cult war that the institution has witnessed recently, and while the officially confirmed death toll is six, rumours have it that the true toll is more like twenty-two.

On June 14, a 200 level Mathematics student, Uche Emmanuel Alajemba, popularly known as Snazzy, was shot in the head. The incident happened at the University’s Sports Complex during a biometrics registration exercise. According to eyewitnesses, the shooter calmly dropped the gun afterwards and walked into the crowd before he could be identified.

"I made attempts to speak with members of both rival gangs and was able to attract the attention of a member (he claimed to be an official) of the Black Axe confraternity who opted to speak on condition of anonymity.

The Official said that the rival groups are currently in negotiations to address the issue and that all other things being equal, they should resolve the issues in the coming days. According to The Official, himself and his executive members are not in support of a war between the two factions and that they would do everything possible to resolve the crisis soon.

He also stated that the members of the Black Axe confraternity who initiated the crisis would be sanctioned, and if found culpable of inciting the crisis, they would be dealt with.

Silence in the ivory tower

The University of Benin has taken on a sombre mood and Ehis, an Electrical Engineering student, hopes that lasting solutions would be found to the recurrent crisis of cult clashes within the university, so students who are not affiliated to any of these cult groups can continue their studies unhindered."

Latest events

Despite The Official’s claims, the battle is not showing signs of abating. Governor Oshiomhole’s recent ban on the use of commercial motorcycles in large swathes of Edo state has been interpreted in some quarters as an attempt to reduce the violence. As of the time of writing, locals say that 10 arrests have been made by the police, the latest being a policeman who’s name the police have so far refused to release. A short conversation with DSP Moses Eguavoen, the state’s police spokesman confirmed that indeed some people have been arrested, but no names were given.

In their official reaction though, the police in Edo state say that measures have been put in place to stop the violence. Commissioner of Police, Foluso Adebanjo, said that the Police is collaborating with the Management of the University of Benin to curb the menace in and around the campus.

“We are not relaxing at all. We are in search of the leaders behind these killings. Already, we have arrested some persons in connection with the crisis while others are on the run. The killings will stop because policemen are all on the alert now,” Adebanjo said. “All security agencies in the state are concerned. The governor is equally concerned and residents of the state are concerned. So, we will not relent in stopping this madness. It is very sad that people no longer value human lives; it is sad.”

The school authority is yet to issue an official statement about the incident(s), and attempts to speak with the Public Relations Officer of the University of Benin, Harrison Osarenren, have so far proved abortive.

Kim & Kanye's Daughter Is Kaidence Donda West

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have reportedly named their daughter Kaidence Donda west.

It has been top secret classified information since Kim Kardashian gave birth last week - but it appears some silly sod has spilled the beans.

A nurse at the fancy Los Angeles' Cedars Sinai hospital let slip Kim and Kanye West's daughter's name, according to reports.

And in klassic fashion, it's claimed Baby Kimye will be called Kaidence. Which is something we can imagine Tulisa would call a pet poodle.

The suggested name also rules out the hilarious possibility of calling the adorable tot North, which would go brilliantly with her rapper papa's surname.

But don't go and send the new mummy and daddy personalised baby-grows just yet.

A family insider hinted that Kim and Kanye would call the newborn Kai Georgia Donda West.

The sentimental choice would include the name of Kanye’s late mum, Dr Donda West, and a female version of Kim's late dad Robert middle name George.

However, unconfirmed reports from America now suggest Kaidence Donda West is the full name Kimye have chosen.

New born Baby Found in Moremi Female Hostel Toilet in OAU

This is very sad and Disturbing, I got a tip from a student in Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife that a baby [Pictured Above] was found in One of the Female Hostel in The school [Moremi Hostel].
They say the girl’s name is Oyin (let’s leave her surname out for now) and she’s a 400 level student of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The incident happened very early this morning.
According to a student of the school who sent in the photo, a cleaner heard a baby crying inside one of the toilet stalls and then saw blood coming from under the door. She quickly went to call other cleaners around and they forced the door open.
When the cleaners entered the toilet they saw the student pouring water inside the closet, the baby turned upside down, with the head inside the closet.
One of the women dipped her hand inside and removed the baby…a boy, who was still very much alive but bleeding from the nose. The cleaners called school management who rushed both the girl and the baby to Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital for treatment. The placenta fell while they were rushing the girl to the hospital.

Dolce and Gabbana sentenced to jail for tax evasion

(Reuters) - Fashion design duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were on Wednesday handed a suspended prison sentence of one year and eight months for hiding hundreds of millions of euros from the tax authorities.
The designers, who are nearly as famous as the stars they dress, were not present in court in Milan and have denied the charges. Given the complexity and length of the appeals process, they are unlikely to spend any time in jail.
Public prosecutor Gaetano Ruta had asked for two and a half years. The judge gave them a suspended sentence.
A company spokesman declined to make an immediate comment.
The success of Dolce and Gabbana's sexy corset dresses and sharply tailored suits favored by celebrities like Kylie Minogue, Kate Moss and Bryan Ferry have earned them a glamorous lifestyle.
They hosted friend and client Madonna for her birthday in 2009 at their villa perched above the chic boating resort of Portofino.
The case dates back to an investigation that began in 2008, when authorities unleashed a tax avoidance crackdown as the financial crisis began to bite. But the probe that ensnared the two designers is one of the few high-profile cases to come to trial so far.
The judge on Wednesday ruled that the pair sold their brand to Luxembourg-based holding company Gado in 2004 to avoid declaring taxes on royalties of about 1 billion euros ($1.3 billion).
The pair's flamboyant designs are inspired by the sultry southern Italian island of Sicily, where Dolce was born in 1958. He met Gabbana, now 50, in the latter's home town of Milan, where they showed their first collection in 1985. The brand took hold internationally in the 1990s and global revenues hit just under 1.5 billion euros in 2011.
The pair have always said they are innocent.
"Everyone knows that we haven't done anything," Gabbana tweeted in June 2012 after the trial was ordered.

But Gabbana's only reaction so far on Wednesday was to tweet a close up photograph of the branch of a colorful citrus tree, just seconds after the verdict.

Three killed in Osogbo auto crash

Osogbo - Two commercial motorcyclists and the passenger in an unregistered Toyota Camry car, lost their lives in Osogbo on Monday when the driver of the car lost control and crushed the motorcyclists.

According to eye-witness accounts, the accident happened at about 4:45 p.m. at Heritage Junction on the Gbongon-Osogbo road.

The accident was said to have been caused because of over-speeding by the driver, who lost control and rammed into a street light, causing the car to somersault.

Nigeria to engage West on gay marriages

Lagos - Nigeria is not detered by threats from the United States and Britain to withdraw financial aid if the West African country enacted laws to ban same-sex marriages.

While most locals welcomed the decision on such marriages, Britain and the United States expressed their displeasure with the bill saying it was a violation of people's rights.

The Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan, Ruben Abati, said Nigeria was ready to engage Britain and other countries on the issue.
On Monday, British Prime Minister, David Cameron, during a television programme, said his country will engage Nigeria on the matter as it awaited presidential accent.

"The president is ready to engage any country on any issue. The senate has only just passed the bill and it is yet to be accented to by the president.

"If any country feels strongly opposed to the bill, we are ready to engage the country on meaningful discussion," Abati said.

The same-sex bill prescribes prison sentences of up to 14 years.

Boko-Haram Kills Students & Fishermen In Maiduguri

The Boko Haram leader declares war against youths in Borno, Yobe.

Residents of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, said suspected members of Boko Haram on Monday killed 22 persons in separate attacks. They said the terrorists were on a revenge mission against youth vigilante groups that have been hunting them.

The gunmen on Monday at about 3 p.m. attacked a secondary school, Ansarudeen Private School, Maiduguri, and opened fire on students writing their final year exams. Nine students were killed, while several others were seriously injured in the attack, residents of the area said.

The incident occurs less than 24 hours after gunmen attacked a school in neighbouring Yobe State, killing seven students and two teachers. Borno and Yobe, alongside Adamawa, are under emergency rule with a massive deployment of soldiers to the states.

In another incident in Borno on Monday, the gunmen attacked a group of fishermen on the banks of the Alau River, on the outskirts of Maiduguri, killing 13 of them.

Some of the witness who were spared by the attackers said most of those killed at the river bank were relatives of the youth vigilante group currently hunting Boko Haram members.

“I was lucky to be left out because I am not a resident of Gwange or Hausari where the Civilian-JTF (the youth vigilante) came from,” said a fisherman, who pleaded anonymity for security reasons.

A resident of Bulumkutu in Maiduguri, Inuwa Umoru, said a prominent fish merchant, Garba Garus, was among the 13 killed.

“We were busy fishing at Alau River when suddenly a gang of gunmen appeared from nowhere, rounded us up and asked all those who are residents of Husari and Gwange to fall on one side. After sorting us out, they said, “Your children brought this fate upon you; they are busy catching our members and handing them to soldiers to be killed.”

“They then shot them dead and asked the remaining of us to run for our lives and take the message to the youth vigilante,” he narrated.

A top security official in the state, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the attacks but declined further comments on the number of casualties.

The youth vigilante have been commended by President Goodluck Jonathan and the Nigerian military for helping in the battle against the terrorists.

The JTF spokesman in Borno, Sagir Musa, could not be reached on telephone for official reactions to the incidents.

Ondo Lawmaker, Hon. Fola Olasehinde Operates Shrine In Her Apartment – Landlord

A serving member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, representing Ose State Constituency, a.k.a “Yeye Oge” is in the eye of the storm with the allegations trailing her that she operates a shrine in her apartment in the duplex she lived in, according to a revelation by her former landlord, Pa. Kolawole Ogunbadejo. The apartment which is located at No. 6, Olasehinde Lane, Ijapo Estate in Akure, served as a home for the lawmaker from 2009 till 2012, before she moved to the Government’s Quarters at Alagbaka Akure. Despite securing a new apartment, Olasehinde, who was once married to a Spanish man, has been accused of keeping the keys to the Ijapo apartment while refusing to pay her house rent. This was said to have annoyed her landlord who approached a court to get an order to get the doors forcefully opened. However, Ogunbadejo, a former Commissioner in the old Ondo State, got the court order which gave the legal channel for the opening of the house where fetish items were discovered at the apartment initially occupied by the lawmaker. The news quickly spread to the town as residents in Akure, particularly those at Ijapo, rushed to the lawmaker’s former house to witness the incident first hand. However, Hon. Olasehinde denied having any knowledge about the spiritual items, saying she had moved with all her things immediately she left the area to Alagbaka. Some of the items found at the apartment were coffins, pieces of snail shells and some live snails, cow horns of different sizes wrapped with pieces of coloured cloth, images of humans and animals, concoction prepared in black clay pots in mixture and grounded soaps, as well as bottles and cans containing all manner of liquid including the plate number bearing the Ondo State House of Assembly official number.

Nnamdi Oduamadi described his hat-trick against Tahiti at the Fifa Confederations Cup as 'massive' and says it is the reward of hard work.

The goals have also earned him an immediate recall to his parent club AC Milan.

"I am very happy. I really worked hard and getting three goals in the Confederations Cup is massive for me," he told KickOffNigeria.com.

Oduamadi, on loan to Varese from Milan, was to find out just how massive it was indeed when he discovered that after his second goal, AC Milan president Adriano Galliani called up manager Massimilliano Allegri and directed him to bring the Nigerian back Milan's pre-season training camp.

"That's fantastic for me and I want to give glory to God."

Oduamadi spent last season on loan at Varese, playing a very good second half of the season after returning from injury, which cost him a spot on Nigeria's Nations Cup squad.

But on a night of personal glory, Oduamadi, like the rest of the Nigeria squad felt a tinge of disappointment not only at the numerous missed opportunities, but also at his wrongfully disallowed goal.

"I'm a little bit disappointed that we missed so many chances and that the referee cancelled a good goal which I scored.

"But let’s see what happens in the second game."

Patience's Visit - Port-Harcourt Residents Groan Under Security Siege

Residents of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, are groaning under a security siege that resulted in heavy gridlock and unusual presence of scores heavily armed police. The situation followed the visit of the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, as her aides and associates stormed the city.

On Saturday, residents woke up to the presence of roadblocks and diversions, especially in the GRA where even residents were now scrutinised before being allowed to enter the area.

To underscore the high level security operation surrounding the First Lady’s visit, Armored Personnel Carriers, APC, have been stationed at both ends of Bauchi Street where her palatial mansion is located along with machine gun positions complete with sandbag walls and scores of mobile policemen on guard.

The president’s wife is expected to stay in the state for 11 days. National Mirror learnt that even the River State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has been caught up in the security lockdown and he was unable to attend a wedding on Saturday.

It was learnt that by the time the governor was ready to go out, the road leading to the Government House had been blocked, while the rear entrance which is close to the First Lady’s mansion was also shut to traffic.

One of the governor’s aides, who was contacted by telephone yesterday said: “The road was not opened until noon and by the time His Excellency arrived at the venue, the wedding was over.”

The First Lady had attended the wedding ceremony of one of her aides, who is also a member of the House of Assembly, Evans ‘Bibi’ Bapakaye, at the Civic Centre in Port Harcourt and traffic was hectic as there were marked diversions around the Isaac Boro Park, Marine Base, Station Road, Hospital Road, Bereka Street and Moscow Road within the old city.

All these roads are the major highways connecting the State Secretariat and the Downtown of the city to the other areas of the metropolitan city and they serve as the hub for vehicular and human movements in the city.

Disruption of traffic flow in the areas always leads to a punishing gridlock, which was exactly what happened on Saturday. Cars were not allowed near these areas and residents walked for hours to reach various destinations. Journalists, who covered the assignments have to make use of hotels and cybercafés around the area to file their stories as traffic was still hectic until around 9p.m.

Even though the First Lady has not been involved in any serious official business since Saturday, there is still heavy security presence in the city, with a lot of diversions still causing heavy traffic jams around the GRA areas where she resides.

To press home the importance of her visit to the state, Divisional Police Officers were directed to personally take charge of traffic in their divisions, while all vacations among police officers in the state have been cancelled or put on hold until the departure of the President’s wife.

A DPO, who spoke with National Mirror on condition of anonymity, said most of the security personnel in the state are engaged in ensuring the safety of the First Lady as it is the priority assignment in the state now.

“We can’t go on leave or vacation now and we have all been ordered to personally supervise traffic and security operations in our various formations. We understand she will be around for 11 days, that means another seven more days,” he said.

Investigations by National Mirror, revealed that the First Lady will be commissioning the South- South Zonal Office of her Pet Project, ‘Women for Change and Development Initiative’, while she is also billed to be involved in the burial of her grandfather, slated for the coming weekend. Some Port Harcourt residents expressed disgust at the huge inconveniences the visit was causing especially since her stay will be prolonged.

“How long are we going to cope with all these problems now? We thought she was only going to be here for the weekend only for us to get to the Azikwe end of the road and still meet heavily-armed policemen, on getting to Isaac Boro park, we were turned back by stern-looking policemen again,” Egi Dombraye, a businessman in the state lamented

Should I Tell My Husband Our Twins Were Adopted And Not His Own?

I wish God will forgive me ,it started 2004 when I got married and after some years we could not conceive. Me and my husband went to hospital and I was told that am suffering from blocking of Fallopian tubes while my hubby had low sperm count.

After some treatment no results and my hubby wanted to travel to London and hoping
to come back in 2yrs time. I decided to lie to my hubby that am pregnant and he was happy, after 2months he left for London and I was staying alone. My hubby kept asking after our child and I told
him the baby was kicking.

I decided to make enquiry about how to adopt. I arranged with one man in river state about adopting twins likely a girl and a boy or 2 boys.

After 9months of faking my pregnant to my hubby, doctor told me that the children are ready, I rented a 2 bedroom flat far away from where i was living before. I went and brought those children, I paid 700,000 to doctor and I gave the young mother 100,000. I just felt like giving the mother the money because I know the doctor will settle her later.

I saw many young girls there waiting to deliver. I called my hubby and him that I have given birth to twins a boy and a girl, my hubby was very happy. I hired bus from river state to Lagos here, I came back smoothly and with a nanny helping me out. My hubby kept sending me money every month.

My twins are very beautiful, I sent the pictures to my hubby, he was very happy. After 5yrs my hubby came back, he loves those children more than me.

My problem is this. How can I tell my hubby that those children does not belong to us. How can I tell him that I adopted them with his money.

How will he react to it. He is suffering from HBP that started 2yrs ago. He doesn’t joke
with the kids.

I need your advice please.

Baby Stolen From Imo State Maternity Ward After Birth

There is nothing as painful as nursing a pregnancy for nine months and losing the baby immediately after birth. That is the agony Mrs. Ezinne Chukwuemaka Osuji has been subjected to by those who stole her son a few hours after the baby was born on 5 June, 2013 at a ‘Maternity home’ in Nworiebi, headquarters of Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.

The incident has generated a huge public outcry, prompting the arrest of the owner of Elizabeth Maternity Home, Mrs. Elizabeth Obi and her daughter by officers from the Police Divisional Headquarters who transferred the case to the Imo State Criminal Investigations Department and the child trafficking unit.
It is the worst form of treatment a mother could be put through in a so-called maternity home. It is not a surprise to many that this is happening in Imo State at a time girls are impregnated and their babies are sold after delivery to child trafficking syndicates that buy babies and sell them to make profit as if the babies are ordinary commodities that could be bought and sold in the open market.

The theft of Mrs. Osuji’s son could be the fallout of the crackdown on owners of ‘baby factories’ in the state who have resorted to another easy way of continuing with their evil trade by stealing new babies from maternity homes.
This should serve as a wake up call to expectant mothers about to put to bed, especially in private hospitals or so-called maternity homes, as dubious people could conspire with hospital workers to steal their babies. Expectant mothers in maternity homes must be suspicious of the sinister motives of the people around them so that they don’t’ end up facing the kind of trauma Mrs. Osuji is now facing.
Theft of babies may well be another form of kidnapping. If that is the case, owners of hospitals with maternity homes should improve security in and around their hospitals to prevent this kind of ugly incident from happening.
The police must not allow the Nworiebi incident to be swept under the carpet. They must get to the root of theft of Mrs. Osuji’s son and not only recover the baby but also bring the culprits to book.

Citizens of Imo State must prevent their state from becoming notorious for these kinds of sordid happenings. They must assist the police and other law enforcement agencies to stamp out baby factories and other despicable activities of criminals in the state. A society that places a great premium on moral values will not allow its people to descend to the level of stealing a day old baby and subjecting the baby’s parents to a harrowing experience.

Old Number Plates, Driver's Licence Expire Sept 31, Says FRSC

Fo your information:
Old Number Plates, Driver's Licence Expire Sept 31, Says FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) said on Wednesday that the old number plates and the old driver’s licence would expire by Sept. 31

The Sector Commander of the commission in Plateau, Mr Sunday Maku, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos.

Maku said that officers and men of the commission would commence enforcement by Oct. 1.

He called on motorists without driver’s licence to obtain one so as to stream into the changes taking place in the society.

He said that the new number plate would reduce criminal activities nationwide, adding that the new system had ``a tremendous advantage over the old ones’’.

“Before, it was possible for you to sell your car with your number plate; but nowadays, number plates are registered in the name of the owner.

“If you want to sell the car, you cannot sell the car with number plate, you have to remove the number plate, the new buyer will have to get his own number in his own name. So, with this system, it becomes very easy to trace criminals that are using number plates for criminal activities.``

He allayed the fears that the process of obtaining the new number plate was cumbersome, and urged those with old ones to come for revalidation.

Thugs attack Okorocha’s convoy

Governor Rochas Okorocha’s convoy was attacked yesterday in Oguta Council Area of the state  by youths allegedly recruited by a candidate for the rescheduled Imo House of Assembly elections scheduled to hold next week.
It gathered that Governor Okorocha, who was in Awa community in Oguta to drum up support for Chief Walter Uzonwanne, the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for the election slated for next week was on his way out of the community when an opposition candidate was also on his way to Awa community.
According to  an eyewitness account  one of the outriders on the Governor Okorocha convoy had knocked down one of the motorcyclists on the campaign train of the candidate and that instead of the security details on the governor’s convoy to assist the man, they descended on the hapless man and started beating him.
It was learnt that the attitude of the governor’s security men angered the youths, who blocked the passage of the governor as the youths reportedly descended on one of the outriders, who was beaten to stupor by the irate youths and was dispossessed him of his walkie-talkie.
“For several hours, the irate youths barricaded the road and prevented the governor’s convoy from continuing on the  journey while some of them were throwing sachet water and other objects at the security operatives, who ordered them to vacate the road.”
It was further gathered that the situation could have degenerated to bloodshed but for the prompt intervention of the governor, who directed his security aides to handle the situation with utmost care.
However, when contacted, the candidate described the allegation as unfortunate, insisting that he had no powers to attack a governor’s convoy.
In his words: “I was going to Awa community to address my supporters ahead of next week’s election when I saw the governor’s convoy coming from the opposite direction. At first I thought it was the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha.
“One of the outriders knocked down one of the motorcycle riders in my campaign train and the boy was seriously wounded and instead of giving him first aid, the security men pounced on him and began to beat him and this infuriated the youths and they blocked the road and asked the governor to kill all of them.”

Improvements Nigeria Needs Against Spain And Uruguay

Well yesterday was a happy day for nigeria sport lovers... But i don't see why we should be too happy because tahiti are no match for us and this is the first fifa competition they're participating in...Yes , we rattled tahiti but if we put up this kind of performance against spain or uruguay , we'ld be knocked out......here are the improvement we need to make

****Our Finishing Was Poor : if we need to win against spain and uruguay , we need to work more on our finishing...... I'm disappointed that we could score only 6 because the number of chances we missed was double the scoreline....if we get those chances against spain , we need to score if we really want to win....

***Oduamah Should be given more playing time.... He wears #20 jersey for nigeria and he really impressed me yesterday......i see him improving in subsiquent days if he's given more playing time....

***We need to work more on our shooting accuracy : nigeria's shooting accuracy is really poor....knowing fully well that we will be well marked by spain we need to work more on our shooting accuracy... That could be an advantage to us knowing fully well that spain hardly shoot on goal ....order than this i think i was a fine game and i think we're improving... Kudos to our defenders ... They're really trying.

Tade Ogidan Didn't Beat His Wife?

The social media was awash last weekend with the story of how veteran movie director/producer, the highly respected Tade Ogidan ALLEGEDLY beat his wife and injured her on her forehead. But what many do not know, however, is that that was not the whole story.

"Thanks for your concern. I just got back to Lagos from a trip abroad. It was Friday night in London that my phone started to ring off the hook with the news of this publication.
Anyone who knows me near well enough or even well enough will know that I CAN NEVER HIT A WOMAN. It just cant happen! If anyone ever upset me, I simply walk away or take a drive.
A friend of my woman whom they've been in rivalry from school days did that to mess her up. I only arrived to start to get a fairly clear gist of how this came to be. Yewande didn't post the document. In fact, she's been inconsolable since this publication. She is been crying endlessly. She is lost for what to do.
This is what happened:
Yewande is like a tomboy. She can play rough.
We were all in my office, the day after Children's day. I have been quite busy at work because of the reality show we are working on. That means I am not home everyday. Our major location is far along the Ajah axis; far from my home.

Yewande and the kids came to spend time with me in the office. When it was late, no NEPA, and the attempts to get the gen working [failed], she was ready to go home with the kids.

My little 5 year old girl was screaming that she didnt want to leave yet. Her mother insisted. The little girl ran into my office and shut the door to prevent her mom from taking her. I told Yewande to give her time. You know how mothers can be with their kids.

She insisted that they should leave as she didnt want to drive late. I blocked the door so she can give the girl a reprieve. She was playfully pulling me off the door. She does things like that all the time. She lost her grip and staggered into that three seater wrought iron chair in the open office. She obviously hit the ridge of her nose on the steel arm of that chair. The cut was managed.

She models and had obviously taken a photo of her face, for posterity (something to laugh at another time). One of her old school friends, with whom she's had rivalry from school days, stole the photo from another friend of hers and went viral with that damaging story. The obvious intention is to mess her up.

Sadly, one is caught in the firing line. This has created such a stress for her, our family, my workers, my friends, and most especially me. You can imagine me having to spend time to explain this to everyone who knows me and finds this strange! Painfully for me, there are just so many people that I can attempt to explain this to.

She was quite worried that she's been running all over to ask how to manage this. Before I got back from the trip, she gave an explanation to another friend of hers to publish on the site that first sent out the false story.

Everybody is trying to manage her, so she wont affect her health from the outcome of this. That is what happened. I HAVE NEVER HIT A WOMAN, AND I JUST CANT. I counsel people who have issues and they respect me greatly for the wisdom I bring to the table. People in and outside this society hold me in high regard. I am ALWAYS mindful of anything I do anywhere.

This is a major distraction for me as I spend quality time to explain the situation to all who reach out to me (from all over the world).

Thanks for reaching out."

Yewande’s Report To Stella Dimoko

I Had an accident with my Honda three weeks ago but i am fine now, it was minor. I hit my head on the steering wheel when a minivan hit my car from behind.my husband is even in the UK right now and he did not abuse me in any way.

I am not defending him, if anyone has done anything to me, I will speak out. I am very well aware of domestic violence and I urge you to go on with your campaign against it but i was not assaulted by my loving husband.

I was taking my kids to school and there was a gallop and a minivan hit me from behind, it was my fault because I didn't have my seat belt on. Tade ogidan cannot hurt a fly, I am not defending him but that's how he is. My Tade would never hit a woman, he is far older than me and he treats me like a baby''.

Hope you guys now know that the man is not a monster and didn't beat his wife as had been alleged?

Floods Bring Snakes To Schools In Delta

Public schools in areas prone to flood in Delta State have been taken over by snakes, even as many of them have collapsed, a woman leader at Okoh community and a flood victim, Mrs. Ify Obi, told the United Nations delegation to Delta State at a town hall meeting organized by the state government in Asaba at the weekend.

Mrs. Obi said the Okoh/Amakon primary school in Okoh town is one of the schools that have been taken over by snakes and other dangerous reptiles, thereby preventing pupils and teachers from attending classes.

While appealing to the UN to assist the Nigerian government to tackle the problem, she lamented that the flood is taking a toll on them.

Joy Obiorah, a staff of Okwe General Hospital, and victim of flood, said, “the flood has completely finished us. No food, no house and many of us are being affected by all kinds of ailments”.

She said her greatest regret is that her parents have become refugees in a remote community because there is no money to erect a new building for them after flood destroyed her father’s house last year.

The state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, on his part, told the UN delegation that the flood had a huge impact on the state and its agricultural products.

Uduaghan said: “Many of the victims were affected by various forms of diseases. The state did its best to avert the trend by evacuating victims from affected communities to new locations across the state to check the trend, especially nursing mothers and their babies”.

He said a committee of experts was set up to access the extent of damage, and that their recommendations were sent to the UN for immediate assistance.

He flayed local government chairmen for not distributing relief materials to victims.
Responding, Valerie Amos, UN under Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Co-ordinator, acknowledged receipt of the state’s report. She also commended the state government for the steps taken to ameliorate the plight of the victims.

wife, 20, accuses husband of sodomy, seeks divorce

A 20-year-old house wife, Aisha Sani, of Nasarawa Kakuri in Kaduna has dragged her husband to the Magajin Gari Sharia Court, accusing him of sodomy and battery.
She told the court on Monday that her husband, Abubakar Usman, was allegedly sodomising her after enchanting her with charms.
According to her, the husband uses charms which makes her unconscious whenever he wants to make love to her through the anus.
Aisha also contended that Usman used to beat her whenever she complained, a situation which made her to vacate her matrimonial home six weeks ago.
Usman, 30, who resides at Hayin Rigasa area of the city, denied the allegation.
He said the marriage was contracted only six months ago and was yet to understand why the wife was accusing him of sodomy.
He told the court that he would accede to the wife’s request if she would pay back the dowry paid on her.
The presiding officer, Khadi Usman Abubakar, summoned the parents of the couple to appear before the court on June 24, for continuation of hearing.
