ABOMINATION: TWO COUSINS DIED WHILE HAVING SEX IN IMO:

Hell was let loose at Umualianya kindred Umumpe, Umuevu Okirika-Nweke in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA of Imo State last Monday when a man, Mr Mathias Nwoko and his female Cousin, Angela Ihuoma Anyanwu, met their untimely death while making love to each other.
Sources in the community told 247ureports.com that the late Mathias, 45, had returned home from his Onitsha base to attend the priestly ordination of his kinsman, Rev. Fr. Anayochukwu Onuoha, held at Mater Dei Cathedral, Umuahia, Abia State last Saturday June 20 2013.
It was learnt that all through the ordination ceremony, Mathias and the late Angela were literally tied to each other, with the latter taking the front seat of the former’s jeep.
Their entanglement was said to have continued the next day, Sunday, during the ceremony marking the first Holy and Thanksgiving Mass at Holy Ghost Parish, Umuevu Okirika-Nweke.
The deceased were also seen together at the ordination reception and later at the compound of the new priest where they were dancing to the music coming from Mathias’ car’s loudspeakers, while he occasionally was shooting gunshots from his pump action gun as Angela fed him with cartridges.
Interestingly, the deceased cousins were among family members who received prayers from the new priest, who earlier enjoined the people of the community to shun hypocrisy, atrocities and other iniquities if they must avoid God’s anger.
The late Mathias who was said to have been married for 13 years without any child, however, returned home with a young girl as his fiancée who he left in the house.
It was gathered that while the fiancée was home watching videos and waiting for Mathias, he only returned around 11pm and told her to go to sleep while he collected torchlight to see Angela off to her house.
But that was not to be as the duo diverted to Mathias’ semi-completed building.
Worried by her daughter’s non arrival to the house, Angela’s mother called her phone line but Mathias was said to have answered the phone telling the woman that her daughter was with him.
Also, alarmed by Mathias’ absence in the house up till Monday morning, his fiancée began to look for him within the house and was shocked to have stumbled on the naked but entangled bodies locked in death.
She immediately alerted Mathias’ family members who could not believe their eyes. Also, Angela’s mother who was returning from Morning mass was simply speechless at the sight of the deceased.
The lady who was on top of the man had her blouse on but naked from the waist region while the man had his singlet on his neck. The two were dead.
Their bodies were removed and deposited at Holy Rosary Hospital, Ogbor Nguru in Aboh Mbaise Local Government.

Conjoined Twins Born In India

A pair of conjoined twins have been born in India with two heads but just one body.

The boys' heads, nervous systems and backbones are separate. The backbones are joined below the pelvis and they share a rib cage and shoulder girdle.

Doctors say they believe they can save the lives of the boys who were born in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Wednesday.

Dr. S.D. Sharma, medical superintendent of J.K. Lone Hospital, said that such cases are very rare, especially in boys and are known as Dicephalic Parapagus. He added that this is the first case in Rajasthan and second in India.

Most of the time, children that are Dicephalic Parapagus are born dead and, in the vast majority of cases, are girls, reports CBS. But doctors are hoping they can help the boy.

Scientists Implants False Memories In to Mice

False memories have been implanted into mice, scientists say.

A team was able to make the mice wrongly associate a benign environment with a previous unpleasant experience from different surroundings.

The researchers conditioned a network of neurons to respond to light, making the mice recall the unpleasant environment.

Reporting in Science, they say it could one day shed light into how false memories occur in humans.

The brains of genetically engineered mice were implanted with optic fibres in order to deliver pulses of light to their brain. Known as optogenetics, this technique is able to make individual neurons respond to light.

Our memory changes every single time it's being recorded. That's why we can incorporate new information into old memories and this is how a false memory can form...”

Dr Xu Liu Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Just like in mice, our memories are stored in collections of cells, and when events are recalled we reconstruct parts of these cells - almost like re-assembling small pieces of a puzzle.

It has been well documented that human memory is highly unreliable, first highlighted by a study on eyewitness testimonies in the 70s. Simple changes in how a question was asked could influence the memory a witness had of an event such as a car crash.

When this was brought to public attention, eyewitness testimonies alone were no longer used as evidence in court. Many people wrongly convicted on memory statements were later exonerated by DNA evidence.

Xu Liu of the RIKEN-MIT Center for Neural Circuit Genetics and one the lead authors of the study, said that when mice recalled a false memory, it was indistinguishable from the real memory in the way it drove a fear response in the memory forming cells of a mouse's brain.

A mouse was put in one environment (blue box) and the brain cells encoding memory were labelled in this environment (white circles)
These cells were then made responsive to light
The animal was placed in a different environment (the red box) and light was delivered into the brain to activate these labelled cells
This induced the recall of the first environment - the blue box. While the animal was recalling the first environment, they also received mild foot shocks
Later when the mouse was put back into the first environment, it showed behavioural signs of fear, indicating it had formed a false fear memory for the first environment, where it was never shocked in reality

The mouse is the closest animal scientists can easily use to analyse the brain, as though simpler, its structure and basic circuitry is very similar to the human brain.

Studying neurons in a mouse's brain could therefore help scientists further understand how similar structures in the human brain work.

"In the English language there are only 26 letters, but the combinations of letters make unlimited words and sentences, this is also true for memories," Dr Liu told BBC News.

Evolving memories

"There are so many brain cells and for each individual memory, different combinations of small populations of cells are activated."

These differing combinations of cells could partly explain why memories are not static like a photograph, but constantly evolving, he added.

"If you want to grab a specific memory you have to get down into the cell level. Every time we think we remember something, we could also be making changes to that memory - sometimes we realise sometimes we don't," Dr Liu explained.

"Our memory changes every single time it's being 'recorded'. That's why we can incorporate new information into old memories and this is how a false memory can form without us realising it."

Susumu Tonegawa, also from RIKEN-MIT, said his teams' work provided the first animal model in which false and genuine memories could be investigated in the cells which store memories, called engram-bearing cells.

"Humans are highly imaginative animals. Just like our mice, an aversive or appetitive event could be associated with a past experience one may happen to have in mind at that moment, hence a false memory is formed."
Silencing fear

Neil Burgess from University College London, who was not involved with the work, told BBC News the study was an "impressive example" of creating a fearful response in an environment where nothing fearful happened.

"One day this type of knowledge may help scientists to understand how to remove or reduce the fearful associations experienced by people with conditions like post traumatic stress disorder."

But he added that it's only an advance in "basic neuroscience" and that these methods could not be directly applied to humans for many years.

"But basic science always helps in the end, and it may be possible, one day, to use similar techniques to silence neurons causing the association to fear."
'Diseases of thought'

Mark Mayford of the Scripps Research Institute in San Diego, US, said: "The question is, how does the brain change with experience? That's the heart of everything the brain does.

He explained that work like this could one day further help us to understand the structure of our thoughts and the cells involved.

"Then one can begin to look at those brain circuits, see how they change, and hopefully find the areas or mechanisms that change with learning."

"The implications are potentially interventions for diseases of thought such as schizophrenia. You cannot approach schizophrenia unless you know how a perception is put together."

Man Stabs Wife To Death For Bearing Female Children.

A 48 years old man(name with held)has allegedly killed his wife for not being able to give birth to a male child.

The deceased, 46, simply identified as Mama Feyi, was heavily pregnant when she was allegedly stabbed to death by the husband during an early morning dispute.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the alleged murderer who hails from Abusoro area in Akure, Ondo State, has since been arrested and is presently being detained at the Ala divisional police station.

Eye witness accounts say the suspect has been having a running battle with his deceased wife for over two years shortly after the woman gave birth to their fourth daughter.

Sources say trouble began a month ago before the brutal murder when the husband complained aloud that his deceased wife is incapable of bearing him a male child and the incident led to a fierce altercation between the couple.

Shocked neighbours expressed disbelief at the death of mama Feyi when one of their next door neighbour, Mr. Isijola, said he was awakened by loud arguments coming from their room very early in the morning.

“I ignored them as it is a norm for them to always argue and have altercations. I decided to ignore them at first but when the noise was getting unbearable, I stepped into their room only to find the lifeless body of the woman on the floor, lying in the pool of her blood. I saw the man holding a knife and he threatened to stab me if I don’t leave.

Isijola continued, “It was when I discovered that he may abscond that I alerted the police who immediately came to arrest him.”

Naratting the incident, daughter of the deceased, Feyisara, said, “It all started on Sunday after my mummy. had cooked rice. She asked me to go and collect money from my father to prepare stew and on getting to him, he started shouting. But he later gave me N500 which my mum refused to collect. They both argued and had a fight. I had to make a distress call to neighbours to settle the dispute”.

Accor ding to the daughter of the deceased, “the quarrel started at about 6am when my mum asked him to give her some money for her ante-natal but he refused. They started figh ting and before we knew it, daddy brought out a knife and stabbed mummy to death.

Woman Allegedly Beats Maid To Death In Lagos

A middle aged woman simply identified as madam Agnes is currently being detained at the State Criminal Investigations Department, SCID Panti, for allegedly beating an 11-year-old child that was staying with her to death.

The deceased identified as Angelina, was reportedly taken from her parents in far away Ogoja, Cross River state by Agnes, with a promise to send her to school, when she was barely four years old. Angelina, grew up callingher guardian mother, apparently unaware she was not her biological mother.

But things as gathered, fell apart for late Angelina after she turned 6, as she was reportedly made to carry out overwhelming house chores. Initial rebuff of such attitude from madam Rose who crime Alert learnt is related to Angelina’s mother, by neighbour was reportedly greeted with an outburst.

The dehumanising treatment on Angelina reached its peak last Friday, as she was reportedly beaten to death by her madam, for failure to carry out chores as instructed.

Investigation by Crime Alert revealed that on that fateful day, at about 5pm, Madam Agnes returned home screaming at the little girl whom neighbours said was not feeling too well. Madam Agnes reportAedly dragged Angelina into her apartment located on 75 Barracks lllane, Ajegunle and started beating her. The helpless girl was said to have shoutedfor help. But none was forth coming. Then, all of a sudden she seized crying.

Neighbours later became apprehensive after they sighted madam Agnes rush out of her room to a medicine store opposite the building. She reportedly came back with a nurse who went inside with her and rushed out again to get something.

At this point, a neighbour told Crime Alert during a visit at the building yesterday that “ we suspected all was not well. When the nursecame out , we asked what the problem was and she told us that Angelina had fainted. We all rushed inside, only to behold Angelina’s lifeless body on the ground.

On further observation, we discovered a pestleby the side with blood stain and we concluded she could have used it on Angelina”.

Another neighbour who also spoke on condition of anonymity said, “ We are not surprised at Angelina’s demise because madam Agnes had always threatened. At the slightest provocation, she would beat her withany object at her disposal. At times she would smash bottle on her head and at other times, she would use a stool on her. At a point we got angry but there was nothing we could do to alert Angelina’s biological parents”.

Asked why none of them bothered to report the abuse on Angelina to the Police, another neighbour replied, “ Police? You want madam Agnes to fight you? Even if you attempt to rescue Angelina from her grip whenever she was being beaten, Agnes would fight you and ask if you were her relative.

At a point, she resorted to locking the doors whenever she wanted to beat the girl, in orderto prevent anyone from
coming to her rescue”.

Everyone who spoke with Crime Alert described the late Angelina as a dutiful girl who never complained while carrying out any of the house chores. At times she reportedly missed schools in order to finish the chores before the arrival of her guardian. Most times neighbours said she would be made to finish the chores before taking her first meal either at noon or evening.
“Saturdays were the most hectic for the little girl as she would be made to wash her guardians clothes and those of her two grownchildren”.

Child Bride

The time has come to
Whisk her away. At an
Age when fear of her
Period's import should not hold

Sway over her delicate mind.
And the memory of mother's
Love - should nestle like a dove
Within kind and innocent eyes.

The time has come...
The old balding senator
Face full of fat - bearing ugly hairs
His depravity and pedophillic tendencies...
Haphazardly masked
Behind veils of Religion and Tradition...

Lord I beseech thee
May his prick shrink atomic.
Let the girl child
Feel not the transition physically
After going through such mental strain.

Thrust into motherhood
Before sweet childhood has reached
Just conclusion.
Thrust into motherhood
And yet her womb should still be sealed
Her squeals caused by innocent play.

Who would save the day?
How many of you
"Proud and powerful" Nigerians
Would dare raise voice?
So few of you were to be found
When gay love was criminalized
And human rights
Pounded like oh so many yams.

How many of you will quit
The pointless yarns and defence?
How many would call a spade a spade?
How many would name and shame these satanic slaves?

How many of you would affix your
Hearts and souls
To movements aimed against
This onslaught of barbarity?
This descent into moral anarchy?

At twenty-three i'm exhausted.
The battle is far more uneven
Than David's toil against Goliath
So when push comes to shove
And poetry doesn't stick
Then my friends I shall turn
To the steady reassuring click
Of revolutionary guns.

For already enough is enough.
Say no to this devilish law.
By fire or force
For words can always be hidden
By the simplest of runz.

Galaxy TV Presenters Diss Davido's "Gobe" On Live Program

I couldn't agree less with their submission though, lol!
So there is this weekly entertainment program that airs Mondays to Fridays on Galaxy Television, 10am - 11am and it's usually anchored by two ladies, Alero and Pat.
The guest for today's show was Mike okri - the popular singer, whose hit songs, ‘Omoge’ and ‘Rhumba Dance’ dominated the Nigerian music scene in the 1980 - and it was quite fun.
Mike revealed that he is working on the remix of omoge - which would feature omawumi- and he also stated that he will be working with some of the new artistes in the indutry today.
So here's the gist:
Following Mike Okri's statement on "remixing his omoge hit song" one of the presenters stated that "wow, atleast you have something to remix...unlike the songs we have today, that Davido or is it Wizkid's Gobe for instance, all you hear is girl your behind is a killer, see Gobe, Gobe...Gobe, What is behind?! like what the hell."
"In years to come, who would think of remixing such songs. What will my children benefit from such songs, the artistes of tomorrow would not be able to remix such songs...I mean how? Check out Olaiyas remis of baby jowo ft 2face, it's so beautiful...I wonder if we can have such remix for davido's er-rr Gobe tomorrow, lol..."http://www.kemifilani.com/2013/07/galaxy-tv-presenters-diss-davidos-gobe.html

ASUU may call off strike next Thursday

There are indications that the on-going strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities might be called off next Thursday.
Governor of Benue State, Mr Gabriel Suswam who dropped this hint Friday said ASUU and the Federal Government had reached agreements on all the contentious issues  that led to the industrial action except two.
Suswam who was appointed as Chairman of the Needs Assessment Implementation Committee of the Federal Government said after next Thursday’s  deliberations between his Committee and the various agencies of government funding tertiary  education, all the contentious issues would likely be resolved.
Speaking to news men  in Abuja after attending a meeting between the Federal Government’s delegation and ASUU, Suswam said that agreements had been reached by both parties on all issues except two.
Said he: “We reached agreements on all issues except two. These two issues are those of earned allowances  of lecturers and  intervention for the federal universities. These are the only issues that are still outstanding.”
The Benue Governor further said he believed that by next week  after  his Committee would  have arrived at an agreement on all the issues, ASUU would call off the strike.
He continued:  ”The SGF would meet with the leadership of ASUU on the issue of earned allowances by next Monday.
Then my committee which is dealing with the issue of the needs assessment of the universities  would meet again next Thursday and take another look at all the infrastructural deficits which the federal universities are facing.
If you go to our universities, you would agree that they are facing infrastructural deficits and that is why my committee would meet with all the funding agencies next Thursday for the purpose of prioritizing all the projects that need to be executed.  We are going to invite all the agencies that are involved in the funding of the universities including the Central Bank of Nigeria.”
Suswam further stated that the issues on  agreements have been reached include:  those of retirement age for  university lecturers- which has now been increased from 65 to 70 years; the constitution of the governing councils of the universities  which has already been done by the Government; the setting up of  a  pension administrator and  the issue of persuading companies operating in the country to set up research centers in the universities.
Said he: “As far as I am concerned, if the issues concerning  intervention and earned allowances are resolved next week,  then the strike could be called off”
Among those who attended  the  meeting were  Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, Minister of Labour, Hon. Emeka Wogu,  Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayatu Rufai and  President of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr Nasir Fagge.

47 year old grandma wants cosmetic surgery to make her look older

This woman is the mother of former Channel O VJ Nonhle Thema's baby daddy, Arthur Bolton. Grandmother Anne Bolton wants to have cosmetics surgery to make her look older because at 47 years old, she hasn't seen any sign of aging; no wrinkles, no greying hair, no sagging etc.

UK Daily Mail  reports:

The mother-of-four says she is constantly being mistaken for a woman half her age, and says looking like a 20-year-old is actually ruining her life - and now she's thinking about having cosmetic surgery to make herself look older. Anne says that her youthful looks have ruined a marriage and two long-term relationships, as younger men constantly chat her up
You think she looks way younger than her age? Continue to read her story...

She also believes jealous friends have abandoned her because she makes them look older.
Her eldest son, who has recently become a father, hates being seen with her after being mistaken for her boyfriend.
Now size eight Anne fears her youthful looks will mean a lifetime of loneliness because she only ever gets chatted up by toyboys she has nothing in common with.

She says: 'Everyone wants to look younger but I'm not joking or exaggerating when I say looking young is ruining my life. I would do anything for a few wrinkles to look my age.
'Why I have none is a mystery to me but the older I get, the bigger the problem becomes for me. I need someone to invent the reverse of Botox because I'm desperate to look older.'
Anne married her first husband at the age of 24, but within a few years they were bickering over her looks.
She said: 'I was in my late twenties but my husband noticed much younger men looking at me and he started to get jealous.
'I wasn't interested, but as the years passed I remained looking the same age and he looked older, which led to even more rows.
'We were the same age but he hated people thinking he'd married a younger woman so I did my best to dress older.'

Anne's son Arthur Bolton with TV personality Nonhle Thema and their son.

Eventually it drove them apart. And despite having two sons together - Arthur, now 25, and 19-year-old Kevin - they got divorced when Anne, who also does some work as a TV extra, was 32.
Four years later, she embarked on a long-term relationship with her second partner, who worked for the Royal Mail.

He was just two years older than Anne who, at 36, was often taken for a twenty-something.
She says: 'At first he loved it and complimented me on my appearance. He said he was proud to be with me.
'But soon the looks from younger guys triggered arguments. But what could I do about it?'
The couple had two sons - Joshua, now 13, and seven-year-old Jacob - yet even being a busy mother-of-four took no toll on Anne's looks.
She reveals: 'When he was 42 I still looked 22. People didn't believe I had four children.
'He hated people asking if he was my dad or brother. I could see the way things were going again.
I would have changed it if I could, only there is no operation to make you look older.'
After five years together, the couple split up and Anne feared she would never find love again.

She says: 'I was only chatted up by young guys. At first it was flattering but then it got boring.
'They want to talk about cars and nightclubs but I needed something more. There's no way I would date someone the same age as my son. Toyboys do not interest me at all.'
Eventually, aged 42, Anne met a 32-year-old.
He was mature enough for her yet, she hoped, young enough not to be concerned over her looks. But she soon faced exactly the same problems.
She said: 'People would stare at us as if we shouldn’t be together. He even got called a dirty old man. Nobody would believe I was a decade older than him and men would approach me to chat me up when I was with him because they thought he couldn't possibly be my partner.
'It became a nightmare. I was even accused of being a gold-digger because it looked like I was with a much older man. It was driving us both mad. It led to rows. It was like history repeating itself.'

Earlier this year, after five years together, they split up. Anne revealed: 'Once again I found myself alone. I was heartbroken that my life was being so badly affected by the way I looked.'
She has since struggled to meet any men her own age but has no shortage of offers from men 20 years younger.
She says 'People think that must be great but I am a grown woman with four sons. I don't want to date a kid. I want a real man, but men my age don't want to date me because it makes them look like perverts. I feel caught in a trap and I don’t know what to do.'
It's not just her love life that has suffered because of her youthful appearance. Anne used to enjoy shopping trips with eldest son Arthur, but he got fed up of his mum being mistaken for his girlfriend - making it impossible for him to meet anyone either.
Anne says: 'Girls just assumed he was taken. He found it embarrassing to have to explain to them I was his mother.
'I couldn’t believe that me looking young was stopping both me and my son from meeting anyone.'
Friendships have also been wrecked by jealousy over her looks. She says: 'As they started to look older and I just looked younger, my friends saw me as a threat to them.
'Their husbands would tell me how young I looked and it annoyed them so they stopped inviting me out. It wasn't my fault but what could I do?
'Women my own age think standing next to me makes them look old. I can see them looking me up and down - I've even been called a bitch.
'So I have to hang around with much younger women. They are good fun but deep down we're not into the same things. Some are younger than my son but what choice do I have?
'Because of the way I look I don’t feel I fit in anywhere - with young people, or those my own age. I bring out the bitchy side in women so I'm scared to try to make new friends.'
Anne, who uses just soap and water and Palmer's face cream, has even started examining her face in the mirror in the hope of finding a wrinkle.

She admits: 'Most women dread them while I am desperate to find just one. But my face and body are totally smooth.
'I’ve lost count of the times people have asked me if I could bottle my secret and sell it - I'd be a millionaire if I could.'

Please Say A Prayer For My Son (PHOTO)

last month June, I was barely six month pregnant and I got sick with PRE ECLAMPSIA. Pre Eclampsia is a disease that affects a small percentage of pregnant women and the only cure is DELIVERY of the fetus.

Whether the pregnancy is up to term or not, DELIVERY is the only solution or method to save the life of the pregnant woman.

Well, I had all the signs of the disease: swollen painful feet, high blood pressure and protein in my urine.

I had to deliver my baby at six months due to dangerous high blood pressure numbers to prevent me from having a stroke or seizure (ECLAMPSIA).

Hence, my son was born on in June at a weight of 1 pound 6 ounces. Not up to 1 kg. because (2.2 pounds = 1 kg). At six months of pregnancy.

My son was the size of my palm. He could neitheir breathe nor feed by himself . He was incubated ( life support) and also have a feeding tube to his stomach. My son have tubes and wires all over his tiny body.

I wept and still weeping. My heart breaks. My pain knows no boundary.

BUT

All I could do was to say a prayer for my son.

Dear lord, help my son. Help my premature son to thrive, breathe and eat by himself. Help his organs to develop fully. Help my son to grow up normal and strong. Dear lord, help my son.

If you are reading this, I am not asking for monatary donations but I am asking for PRAYER DONATIONS.
please say a prayer for my son.
I do not mind your religion, race, nationality, gender, intimate orientation , tribe or even your political acclamations BUT please say a prayer for my son, I beg.

Justice Ayo Salami Retires

After almost two years of intrigues against his recall, the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami, has thrown in the towel without returning to his coveted seat.

Vanguard learnt from competent judicial sources that the respected judge has finally opted to retire from service rather than continue to wait for reinstatement, as was recommended by the National Judicial Council, which had earlier approved his suspension.

The source confirmed that Salami had already tendered his pre-retirement letter to the NJC and that the council had accepted it.

According to the source, Salami, who is expected to formally retire from service on October 15, 2013, is to proceed on his pre-retirement leave this month.

The source, yesterday, said: “It is true that we have received Salami’s pre-retirement letter and notice in accordance with the rules of National Judicial Service of Nigeria.

“The development has put to an end any possibility of recalling him.”

The retirement notice filed by Salami is expected to pave the way for the emergence of either Justice Dalhatu Adamu or Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa as the substantive FCA judge in the next three months.

Bulkachuwa has, however, been acting in that capacity since November 22, 2012.

A reliable source said, yesterday, that the authorities were more disposed to recommending the female judge to succeed Salami because of her impeccable record of service so far.

It will be recalled that NJC had, in August 2011, suspended Justice Ayo Salami for refusing to apologise to the council and the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu, after a panel of the council found him to have lied against CJN.

Beyond the suspension, the council recommended to the President to retire him from the Bench, an action that forced Salami to challenge NJC’s action in court.

However, in May 2012, NJC rescinded its decision and recommended the reinstatement of Salami, but Federal Government citing several court actions over the matter, distanced itself from the recommendation of the council.

Although the Attorney-General of the Federation admitted receiving the letter, he however, insisted that President Jonathan would not abide by it until the cases were disposed of by the courts.

Adoke, who described reports of the President’s reluctance to reinstate Mr. Salami as a misconception, stated that no responsible government would proceed to recall the judge when a case against his reinstatement was pending in court.

Yobe Governor Shuns Minister Over Al-mustapha Rally

Yobe State Governor Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, Tuesday, refused to grant audience to the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Yerima Ngama, following the minister’s rally with the recently released Major Hamza Al-Mustapha in Nguru last week.

The minister was in Damaturu to give the state government 222 trailer loads of grains and N150 million being the Federal Government’s assistance to Yobe as one of the three states affected by emergency rule.

But the governor, who was at the Government House but refused to see the minister, was, according to an aide who does not want his name in print, annoyed that the minister drove in the same car with Al-Mustapha to the Nguru rally despite the emergecy rule in the state.

All efforts to speak to the governor’s media aide was futile as our reporter’s calls were unanswered. A text message sent to the aide was not also acknowledged by the time of going to press.

Meanwhile, the federal government’s ‘largesse’ was a source of controversy as the state deputy governor, Engr Danlami Ali, who hosted the minister, claimed he was mystified over claims by the minister that he “personally sourced N200 million from individuals and organisations to transport the grains to Damaturu.”

Engr Ali said that he was “baffled”, and hinted that the federal government’s business must be some sort of “mixed grill” if individuals could “donate to transport a federal government assistance” or that it should be “shared by NGOs” as hinted by the minister.

No Blues plan B if Rooney deal not done and the Rooney tweet that caused controversy

rooney_1696513aChelsea do not have a Plan B should Wayne Rooney not join the club. The Daily Star reported that that Rooney is the only name on Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea transfer target list for this summer. However, when Mourinho was asked last week if Rooney is the only player he is looking to boost his squad with this summer, he replied “Yes”, which confirmed this.
Chelsea have already seen a £22m bid for Rooney turned down by United and there has been some speculation that a second bid could be as much as a month away. The Blues will be travelling to Old Trafford on 26 August to face United in a Premier League game and a deal could be done after that match, in the final week of the transfer window.
Meanwhile, speculation over Rooney’s future reached new heights after a tweet from the wife of the England international.
“Lovely surprise @WayneRooney,” Coleen Rooney wrote. Speculation followed after fans suggested Rooney had bought the couple a mansion in Surrey prior to a move to Chelsea. There is no word yet as to the actual nature of Wayne’s surprise for his wife.
