2 foreign journalists arrested in Rivers, released

Port Harcourt — Two journalists working with Guardian of London newspaper, were reportedly arrested, yesterday, in Eleme Local Government Area, Rivers State, by Policemen for allegedly taking photographs of flames from the Eleme Refinery.
A Niger Delta activist, Mr. Patrick Nagbatoon, who informed of the arrest in a text message to newsmen in Port Harcourt, gave the names of the journalists as Jon Vidal, a correspondent with Guardian of London and his cameraman, Mr. Naoh.
He said: “Two journalists were arrested in Rivers State late afternoon today (yesterday). Jon Vidal, a correspondent with Guardian of London newspapers and his cameraman, Naoh.
“Both British nationals were arrested for taking pictures of a huge flame at the Eleme Refinery in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.”
In a text message later, he said they had been released. The second text came barely two hours after the first.
Patrick said: “Just to let you know the situation with the journalists is all sorted out now and they have been released.
