5 killed, 2 injured in Bauchi auto crash

Tragedy struck, Sunday, when five people were killed in an auto crash while two others sustained injury, along Nabardo village in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The accident which occurred at about 2.20 p.m, involved a Toyota Carina car with number plate AA184GYD and an army articulated truck with number plate NA1707B0.
An eyewitness which pleaded anonymity said the driver of Toyota Carina was trying to overtake another vehicle  when he collided with the truck.
According to him, “the scene of the accident is known to be a dangerous spot because the road is very narrow, any miscalculation can be very fatal, particularly when on high speed.”
The Federal Road Safety Sector, FRSC, commander in the state, Mr Sunday Henry Olatunji, said of the 10 victims, five were confirmed dead on the spot while two sustained injuries.
He said: “Of the 10 people that were affected by the crash, we have eight males and two females. Among the dead are three males and two females.”
Olatunji said when FRSC officers attached to the Toro unit command received the information, they went and evacuated the dead to the mortuary at the Toro GeneralHospital while the injured were treated.
While attributing the cause of the accident to over-speeding and dangerous overtaking, the sector commander cautioned motorists to adhere to traffic rules and regulations always.
