Chris Olwage Of New-Zealand Is Mr Gay World 2013

For the second year in a row, New Zealand has won the Mr. Gay World contest, which this year took place in
Antwerp, Belgium.
Chris Olwage, known by fans as "the Black Swan" for his pointe ballet performances and appearances on "New Zealand's Got Talent," beat out 24 other winners of Mister Gay pageants from five continents for the crown on Aug. 5.
Competitors in the pageant are judged in four different categories: modeling,sports, leadership qualities and knowledge of LGBT-related issues. Mr Gay World is a cultural and sportsmanship contest that happens annually in conjunction with The World OutGames and is sponsored by the Gay and Lesbian International Sport Association.
According to a press release, winning the Mr. Gay World pageant endows Olwage with the responsibility of serving as an ambassador for gay and lesbian rights, as well as awarding him a diamond worth
3,000 euros.
Last year's winner, Andreas Derleth,received "$6,200 cash and a $25,000 travel allowance to help spread the message of tolerance and diversity."Finishing up behind Olwage in this year's contest was Benjie Vasquez Caraig of Hong Kong, who took the spot of first runner-up, while Matt Simons of the United States took third.
