Neymar cost Barca €57m

Barcelona - Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu said on Monday the signing of Brazilian international Neymar has cost the club €57 million.

The 21-year-old was officially paraded as a Barca player at the Camp Nou earlier on Monday after the club reached an agreement with his old club Santos and the player himself last month.

And Bartomeu ended speculation about how much the Spanish champions had paid for Neymar, although he refused to specify how much each of the parties involved in the deal had received individually on confidentiality grounds.

As well as Santos, investment companies DIS and Teisa who owned part of the player's economic rights were bought by Barcelona.

"Barcelona have all the sporting and economic rights of the player," he told a press conference.

"This operation, at a cost of €57 million, has been done without intermediaries or agents just with the four companies involved."

Of the €57 million, Barca had already paid 10 last year in anticipation of sealing the deal for around €40 million in total.

However, Bartomeu admitted that the late interest shown by rivals Real Madrid and another club had made the deal more expensive.

"The operation has been made more expensive due to the interest of other clubs that interfered in the signing of Neymar.

"It was foreseen that Neymar would arrive in 2014. To bring the move forward we have had to pay this €17 million more."

Bartomeu also confirmed that as part of the deal Barca will play two friendlies against Santos, with one taking place at the Camp Nou and the other in Brazil, whilst the player's buyout clause will be €190 million.

The club's sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta also hailed the signing of the Brazilian prodigy and believes there won't be any issue with Neymar fitting into Barca's current system alongside Lionel Messi.

"Neymar has a style that fits perfectly into ours," he said.

"It is never a problem to have too much talent or too many good players."

Egypt Warns Ethiopia About Nile Dam

Cairo - President Mohammed Morsi on Monday warned that Egypt would not allow its share of the Nile to be diminished by "one drop" after Ethiopia began diverting the Blue Nile as part of a giant dam project.

"We cannot let even one drop of Nile water be affected," Morsi said during talks with political and religious leaders broadcast live on state television.

The talks revolved around a report of a tripartite Egypt-Sudan-Ethiopia commission on Ethiopia's decision to divert the Blue Nile for a massive dam project, sparking fears of a major impact on downstream states Egypt and Sudan.

"It is necessary that we take steps to ensure Egyptian water security," Morsi said on his official Twitter account without elaborating.

"The current situation necessitates unity among our ranks to prevent any threat against Egypt."

Egyptian officials estimate that Ethiopia's move is largely technical and will not alter the water flow that is vital for both Egypt and Sudan.

National security

But Khaled al-Kazzaz, an adviser to Morsi, said the issue was one of "national security" for Egypt, with the cabinet last Wednesday reiterating that Cairo was opposed to all projects which could affect the flow of the Nile.

The Blue Nile joins the White Nile in Khartoum to form the Nile river which flows through Sudan and Egypt before emptying into the Mediterranean.

Ethiopia has begun diverting the Blue Nile 500m from its natural course to construct a $4.2bn hydroelectric project known as Grand Renaissance Dam.

The first phase of construction is expected to be complete in three years, with a capacity of 700MW. Once complete the dam will have a capacity of 6 000MW.

Egypt believes its "historic rights" to the Nile are guaranteed by two treaties from 1929 and 1959 which allow it 87% of the Nile's flow and give it veto power over upstream projects.

But a new deal was signed in 2010 by other Nile Basin countries, including Ethiopia, allowing them to work on river projects without Cairo's prior agreement.

US places $23m reward for Boko Haram leader, Shekau, 4 others

The US today Monday June 3rd posted up to $23 million in rewards to help track down five leaders of militant groups accused of spreading terror in west Africa.

The highest reward of $7 million is offered for the Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau, who last week called on Islamists in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq to join the bloody fight to create an Islamic state in Nigeria.

The US State Department’s Rewards for Justice program also targeted Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), offering its first ever bounties for wanted militants in west Africa.

Up to $5 million was posted for Al-Qaeda veteran Mokhtar Belmokhtar, the one-eyed Islamist behind the devastating attack on an Algerian gas plant in January in which 37 foreigners, including three Americans, were killed.

A further $5 million was offered for top AQIM leader Yahya Abou Al-Hammam, reportedly involved in the 2010 murder of an elderly French hostage in Niger.

Malik Abou Abdelkarim, a senior fighter with AQIM, and Oumar Ould Hamaha, the spokesman for Mali’s Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa (MUJAO), were also targeted by the rewards program, which will give up to $3 million each for information leading to their arrests.

Zbynek Stranak, chief doctor at the neonatal section of the institute said the birth took place 'without any complications.'

A 23-year-old woman has given birth to quintuplets in the Czech Republic, officials say, a first for the country.
Alexandra Kinova had four boys and a girl by caesarean section on Sunday, they say.

The births took place “without any complications”, according to doctors at Prague’s Institute for the Care of Mother and Child.

The mother and babies were placed in an intensive care unit but are believed to be in a good condition.

The Czech Republic’s first quintuplets, who were conceived naturally without IVF, have a 95% chance of growing up healthy, the Associated Press quoted Zbynek Stranak, chief doctor at the neonatal section of the institute, as saying.

The boys’ names are reportedly Deniel, Michael, Alex and Martin, while the girl is called Terezka.

Their mother, who is from the town of Milovice, about 20km (12 miles) north-east of the capital, Prague, already had one son.

She originally believed she was pregnant with twins, but in March doctors upped it to four – and then five in April.

The father of the quintuplets was present at the delivery despite his train being delayed, according to the newspaper Ceske Noviny.

“I was crying all the way since I feared I would not manage it,” he said.

NDLEA arrests 20 illicit drug dealers

Kaduna - The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 20 major distributors of illicit drugs in Kaduna after its men raided three notorious drug havens.

The Commandant of the agency in the state, Mohammed Jibrin, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna that the raid followed a tip off by the residents of Sabon Tasha in Chikun Local Government Area and Mando in Kaduna North Local Government Area.

Jibrin said men of the agency raided such spots known as Black Street and Kantin Agan in Sabon Tasha in Chikun Local Government Area, where it arrested 13 drug addicts and distributors.

"The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency stormed the area and discovered that drug sale is the major criminal activity that takes place there, and we made a lot of arrests of the dealers there.

"We got about seven drug dealers and some drug addicts, that is the users.

"The area is notorious for that crime to the extent that the inhabitants of that area called it Black Street and they were jubilating after the raid, because all of them were before now apprehensive of what could become of their lives because of the threats of the drug addicts in the area.

"But, they so cooperated with our officers that they rendered assistance by pointing to them some of these hide-outs within the areas and with that, we were able to comb the place and make arrests.''

According to him, the agency is still searching for another major distributor in Sabon Tasha, who is now at large.

"We also seized hard drugs not only cannabis but psychotic substances such as valiums and other improvised substances, which is even more of the worry for security agencies now, things like, solutions, "suck and die", they call it, it’s a liquid form from the name, one should even be afraid, that is you drink it and die. But we got it in large bottles. Some boys were abusing it."

The commandant said that the officers also raided a popular area, known as Mando Engineer, where it arrested seven drug dealers and six addicts, who were in possession of 22.4 kg of cannabis sativa and 2.4 kg of psychotic substances.

He appealed to the public to assist the agency in its fight against drug abuse and illicit sale.

Jibrin urged the government to enact a law against the sale of improvised intoxicants being abused by youths and drivers in the state.

Chelsea Set To Offload Two Defenders For A Combined Fee Of £40 Million

The Daily Star report that Chelsea are ready to clear their squad this summer so that soon to be reinstated Manager Jose Mourinho can build the team the way he wants, and that the self proclaimed ‘Special One’ has given the green signal to the club to sell defenders Branislav Ivanovic and David Luiz to Barcelona for a combined fee of 40 million pounds.
Mourinho wishes to add the funds to the transfer kitty he has been handed by Club owner Roman Abramovich to beef up the team in key areas, including bringing in a top class defender in Frenchman Eliaquim Mangala, Italian hard-man Daniele de Rossi and Uruguayan super striker Edinson Cavani.
Mourinho sees David Luiz as a disaster waiting to happen in defense, and wants no part of the Brazilian’s brand of defending at Chelsea, where he has always maintained an extremely tight ship. Ivanovic meanwhile, despite scoring the winning goal for Chelsea in the Europa League final is already 29 years old, and the club are happy to cash in on him rather than offering him an expensive new contract which will carry him well into his 30s.

Bruno Mars' Mother Bernadette Hernandez 'Dies Of Brain Aneurysm', Age 55 Singer's mother was originally reported to have suffered a heart attack

Bruno Mars' mother Bernadette Hernandez has reportedly passed away at only 55 years old, according to an unnamed publicist of the singer.

The Associated Press reports that a representative from Atlantic Records confirmed Hernandez's passing earlier today, citing a brain aneurysm.

It was previously thought that she had suffered a heart attack in Hawaii on Friday and was being treated at the Queens Medical Centre in Honolulu.

Family friend Anita Sojot had told Star magazine that the matriarch was in a critical condition, saying: "Bernadette is in hospital and the grandkids are all here, I’m looking after them. The family is on its way here right now and we are going to discuss what to do next."
At the age four Bruno wrote and recorded a heartfelt song for Bernadette – a singer and hula dancer in her youth – called I Love You Mom.

“My mommy helps me with my voice/cuz a superstar singer is my first choice,” goes one of its lyrics.

The 27-year-old singer also has her name tattooed on his shoulder.

Bruno – one of six children raised by Bernadette and dad Peter, a musician, in the Wakiki area of Honolulu – has previously admitted that his desire to perform started early when his uncle, an Elvis Presley impersonator, encouraged him to mimic The King of Rock n' Roll.

“I wouldn't trade it for anything,” he told Rolling Stone of his musical childhood in April. “Because I feel like I can enjoy this so much.”

Mistaqueens has reached out to Bruno's reps for comment.

Mourinho plans to ditch two key men in £80 million Chelsea clear-out?

There has been some reports on the Daily Mirror website which have claimed Chelsea’s incoming boss Jose Mourinho is to get rid of a few key men, as they are seemingly not part of his plans.
Among those Mourinho believes are surplus to requirements are David Luiz – earmarked by Abramovich and the hierarchy as the new leader and symbol of the team – and Fernando Torres.
Torres scored just eight Premier League goals last season, Arsenal and Everton were the only top seven sides he found the net against and a number of senior players feel he has never been the he was in his pomp at Liverpool.
Yet it is also the case that he scored 21 competitive goals last season, including the opener in the Europa League Final. And that he was Abramovic’s £50million pet project. (Daily Mirror)
Although fans cannot wait to see the end of Torres, Luiz is a great player and should be part of the future at the club, But Mourinho knows what he likes and dis-likes and not many will question his judgement.

D'banj's most expensive fashion item

When asked to mention the most expensive fashion item he has in a recent Punch interview, D'banj said he has a $50, 000 (N7.9m) FM wrist watch and has another watch that Jay Z also owns.
"I’m always wearing expensive things; like now, I have two watches on my wrist. I’m putting on a Franck Muller, master of complication. It goes for at least $50,000. The other is a big face, the same one Jay-Z is rocking."
Asked to describe his fashion style, D'banj said:
I don’t know. I just dress how I want to be addressed. Sometimes, I want to look like a biker, sometimes I want to look like a billionaire. I wanted to get myself a power bike until I started making it. I had to decide against it because if I get injured, I would not be able to perform. Right now, I can only ride through video games

Sanusi Lamido, his CBN mistress and their sweetheart escapades

My hand is not in this one o! Lol. Culled 100% from Premium Times. Interesting read, see it below...

Twenty minutes to midnight on February 25, 2013, and a day before the board of the Central Bank of Nigeria was due to meet, Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi developed a craving for romance - he badly needed a kiss.
The governor, married with children, grabbed his mobile phone and typed out a message.  “Maybe you should come kiss me before board meeting tomorrow,” Mr Sanusi wrote and then squeezed the send button.
At about 9 a.m. the next day, Mrs. Maryam Yaro, a married mother of two, an assistant director and subordinate to the governor at the CBN, arrived at Sanusi’s unnamed Abuja hotel, seeking to keep the date and help address his boss’ craving for a kiss. (Insiders say board members, including those who live in Abuja, are usually lodged in hotels ahead of board meetings).
Choi! This one na serious allegation o. Continue, it gets more interesting...

But by the time Mrs. Yaro left the hotel to return to her official desk at the CBN, the duo had also struck out an arrangement to spend the rest of the week together in Lagos.

So, in the evening of Wednesday February 27, Mrs. Yaro flew to Lagos ahead of Mr. Sanusi and checked into a hotel in the city, skipping work, at taxpayer’s expenses, on Thursday February 28 and Friday, March 1.

To keep faith with Mrs. Yaro’s date, the CBN governor arrived Lagos, travelling on a chartered flight, on the night of February 28, and checked into the Federal Palace Hotel, passage and boarding all at taxpayers expenses.
Both Mr. Sanusi and Mrs. Yaro rendezvoused in the hotel till Sunday when both of them returned to Abuja, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.

“…I had such a wonderful weekend,” Mrs. Yaro confessed to the governor while aboard her Abuja-bound flight. “You have revived in me what I thought I lost long ago. I thought I lost the passion to love again,” she claimed.

“Alhamdulillahi. Love you,” Mr. Sanusi responded in a measured tone.

Insiders say repeated violation of the statutory code of conduct for public office holders such as hiring his girlfriends and mistresses without complying with public service rules, dating married and unmarried women within the bank, and flirting with them during official work hours have become defining characters of Mr. Sanusi’s governorship of the central bank.

An official of the bank spoke of how Mr. Sanusi had enthroned nepotism at the bank, arbitrarily hiring girlfriends and relatives and engaging in extramarital relationships with staff.
“This man (the CBN governor) is the most morally bankrupt governor the CBN has ever had,” the official, who did not want to be named for fear of retribution, told PREMIUM TIMES. “Forget all the pretences, he is a shameless man of loose character.”

Investigations by this newspaper revealed that Mr. Lamido hired his latest mistress, Mrs. Yaro, without complying with the CBN recruitment policy that stressed, “all appointments shall be made on the basis of merit, through a fair and open selection process.”
“The principles underlying the recruitment process are those of fairness, credibility, equal employment opportunities, merit and optimisation of career prospects for currently employed staff,” the bank said on its website.

But Mrs. Yaro, insiders say, was hired in July 2012 without adherence to these principles. Those who should know say Mrs. Yaro, who was a staff at the National Programme on Food Security, an agency under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, was brought into the bank as assistant director without  “advert for the vacancy and after a kangaroo interview.”

When contacted, Mr. Sanusi said due process was followed in hiring Mrs. Yaro.
He said having worked for years in the ministry of agric, Mrs Yaro came highly recommended and qualified for the job for which she was hired.

The CBN governor continued, “I have known Dr Yaro since 1981. She was my student in Yola and she later came to ABU Zaria. We have been very good friends but this is not why NIRSAL took her. You may wish to check her CV against all the other CVs in NIRSAL. And she did go through an interview process with the NIRSAL CEO making the decision not CBN HR.

“As for the personal allegations, this is all strange to me but I have a personal policy of not responding to such allegations since in Nigeria anything can be published on any public officer without proof.  I have limited myself to what concerns official allegations and leave you to your God and your conscience on whatever else you want to publish. Thank you for telling me though.”
Mrs Yaro however declined comments when contacted by PREMIUM TIMES.
“Be careful what you are saying,” she told one of our reporters on the telephone. “I have nothing to comment to you on anything.”

When asked if she would be willing to respond to specific questions about her trips to Lagos to keep dates with Mr. Sanusi, she simply said, “Whatever it is, I don’t know. Will you just let me be?”
But our investigations revealed that the governor’s claim was far from accurate. Through several interviews and review of records, PREMIUM TIMES was able to determine that Mrs. Yaro and Mr. Sanusi had dated each other for at least six months before she was hired.

Insiders say Mr. Sanusi repeatedly pestered the human resource department of the bank ordering it to bring Mrs. Yaro’s application to him for approval. And once the file reached his table, the governor wasted no time in treating it.

On June 25, 2012, Mr. Sanusi, who was travelling in South Africa at the time, telephoned Mrs. Yaro to break the news to her that he had approved her recruitment in what critics consider a clear conflict of interest and a violation of a provision of Nigeria’s Code of Conduct which stipulates that “a public officer shall not put himself in a position where his interest conflicts with his duties and responsibilities.”

Mrs Yaro, (whose businessman husband, Ahmed, is largely based in Kaduna but visits Abuja regularly) assumed duties at the CBN in the first week of September 2012 and was deployed to the Development Finance Department.

The department then put her in charge of the bank’s Nigerian Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System For Agricultural Lending, (NIRSAL), a unit that attempts to fix the agricultural value chain, so that banks can lend with confidence to the sector and, encourages banks to lend to the agricultural value chain by offering them strong incentives and technical assistance.

Sources said Mrs Yaro married Ahmed (or Shuaib, according to another source) six years ago after her first husband, Waisu Yaro Bodinga (then an executive director at the Nigeria Ports Authority) died in the ill-fated ADC plane crash of 2006.

The romance between Mrs Yaro and Mr. Sanusi became even hotter after she began work at the bank, with the two lovers regularly exchanging telephone calls and text messages during work hours to profess love for each other.

At times, Mrs Yaro would remain in her office far beyond close of work to enable her to keep appointments with the CBN governor, records show.
Sometimes, Mrs Yaro would raise concerns about Mr. Sanusi’s other girlfriends and mistresses (such as Sutura and Rose) and how they were blocking her from getting the governor’s full attention, but the relationship continued nonetheless.

Mrs. Yaro also began to have access to confidential information known only to top management and board of the bank, insiders say.

At a point, one source said, she began to strategise to corner contracts for one Goke Akinboro, the Chief Executive Officer of Lagos-based Cellullant Limited, an information technology company. Mr. Akinboro is also described as “very close” to Mrs Yaro.

On March 15, 2013, the CBN lovers headed to Lagos again for another weekend of fun. The initial plan was for the duo to fly to the nation’s commercial capital on Saturday, March 16, returning to Abuja on Sunday. But the trip had to be brought forward by a day after the lovers realised that the Area Council election in Abuja was holding that Saturday and that movement might be restricted.
Mrs. Yaro arrived Lagos on the night of March 15, and immediately checked into the Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel on Victoria Island. Mr. Sanusi flew from Kano to Lagos via chartered jet on the bills of the Nigerian taxpayers. He arrived at about 11 p.m., stopped by his Ikoyi home, before dashing to the hotel where Mrs. Yaro was waiting in a seductive dress in Room 23. The lovers spent that night and the next day together in the hotel.

As he flew into Abuja March 17 on a chartered jet, Mr. Sanusi sent a message to Mrs Yaro saying, “Love. Just landed in Abuja. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.” Mrs Yaro replied, “Alhamdulillah. I had a wonderful weekend too. I am able to get the 3:15 flight on Arik Air. Love you.”

But in-between these rendezvous in Lagos, Mr. Sanusi and Mrs Yaro also found time to get together elsewhere. They were to meet on March 11, 2013, in Makurdi but somehow Mrs Yaro could not make it to the Benue State capital.  But earlier on February 14, (Valentine’s Day), the lovers had a good time together in Maiduguri. Although, the two of them travelled to the city on different missions, they somehow found a way to get together.

At a point, Mrs Yaro voiced open frustration when Mr. Lamido delayed in taking her calls as she tried, frantically, to track him down. “I’m thinking that one Shuwa girl has snatched you away from me,” Mrs. Yaro wrote in a message. “I don’t trust them (Maiduguri girls) with you.”

A velvet-ranking figure within Nigeria’s economic and political circles, Mr. Sanusi, is generally perceived as one of the intellectual anchors and moral conscience of this administration. When his five-year term expires next year, he has indicated he would not renew his contract. Mr. Sanusi has a well-advertised ambition to become the future emir of his native Kano, where he is already a top chieftaincy holder (Dan Maje Kano). Dan Majen Kano, a historic title, which means Son of Emir-Maje, is reserved for the royal family members from the Kano Habe dynasty.

A zigzag prospect to run for the Nigerian presidency is also believed to be floating in the horizon for Mr. Sanusi.

Multiple sources at both the CBN and First Bank, where Mr. Sanusi was managing director before his appointment to the central bank, describe the governor as an “incurable womaniser.”
“This guy seems unable to resist anything in skirt, and it is unfortunate that a lot of young people look up to him as an example,” one of Mr. Sanusi’s aides in Abuja said, expressing widely held concerns in banking circles that “It is sad that he wouldn’t even let married women be.”
Mr. Sanusi, 51, appointed CBN Governor on June 3 2009, is a smart economist and award-winning banker with a background in risk management.

He holds a graduate degree in economics from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a diploma in Sharia and Islamic Studies from the African International University in Khartoum, Sudan. Today, Mr. Sanusi is also commonly regarded as an important voice in Islamic jurisprudence.

The Banker, the UK-based financial magazine honoured him in 2010 as global Central Bank Governor of the Year as well as African Central Bank Governor of the Year. In 2011, the TIME magazine listed Mr. Sanusi in its annual publication of 100 most influential people.

At the African Banker Awards gala dinner held Wednesday in Morocco, Mr. Sanusi also emerged the “2013 Africa Central Bank Governor of the Year.”

“There  is no doubt that he is a fairly effective banker,” an official of one of Nigeria’s leading banks, who requested anonymity  for fear his bank might be targeted, told PREMIUM TIMES. “But he is a man of zero morality despite his public posturing.  It is really sad.”

Hakeem’s Dillish-ious kiss

Well, well it looks like Hakeem is settling in quite well in the Diamond House. Earlier this evening, as the Housemates played a round of drinking games, the young Zimbabwean got his chocolate lips on Dillish’s delicious peckers as the rest of the Housemates cheered them on. While the new Diamond House resident was clearly into it - even leaning in for a longer kiss - the shy Namibian quickly backed off and ducked away. Ouch! Well at least she still had a smile on her face, so clearly she did enjoy it too after all. Only time will tell if sparks will fly between the Diamond duo now that they have smooched. If they were to hook up it would certainly be one sexy coupling. What do you think should Hakeem and Dillish hook up? Which Contestant would you like to see packing their bags this Sunday and who deserves to stay? Betty, Selly, Denzel, Natasha and Huddah are all up for Eviction this week. Vote now to save your favourite Housemate.

LK4 and Koketso get steamy

LK4 and Koketso gave their fellow Ruby Housemates more than an eyeful in the garden this afternoon. During a raucous game of 'Truth or Dare', sexy Ugandan LK4 was given the opportunity of a lifetime; to lay Koketso on the floor, climb on top of her and kiss her passionately. South Africa's Koketso protested weakly for a couple of seconds before a beaming LK4 made it too hard for her to resist. When Koketso hit the floor as the rest of Ruby Housemates watched, LK4 took his position and slid on top of her. He then placed his lips on hers, much to the audience's delight. The kiss seemed to take Koketso's breath away because she was rendered motionless for a couple of minutes. As the seconds ticked by the South African cutie seemed to regain her senses and pushed LK4 off her. Steaming it up We have a feeling Koketso enjoyed that kiss more than she let on. After all that flirting, who wouldn’t? We can't wait for all the action that will go down tonight during the party. Do you think these two will hook up?
