2, 700 anti-aircraft bombs intercepted in Rivers

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Mbu
The vessel identified as MV Iron Trader which was intercepted by the State Security Service on Thursday in Port Harcourt, was carrying 2,700 anti-aircraft and anti-tank bombs, Saturday PUNCH has learnt.
Security sources told our correspondent in Abuja on Friday that the bombs were concealed in a 20-foot container on the ship.
The container is being guarded by a combined team of SSS operatives, soldiers and policemen.
It was learnt that the cargo which originated from Turkey was brought into the country under the guise that they were building rods.

The six-man crew members were said to have claimed that they were coming from Panama in Central America, but investigations by the SSS indicated that the cargo originated from Turkey. The vessel was said to have been given a clean bill until the SSS operatives discovered the bombs.
The crew members  were also said to have told interrogators that the weapons were being taken to Uruguay, but the SSS said that was a lie because of Uruguay’s distance to Nigeria.
“The crew of the ship claimed that they were carrying iron rods, but when operatives of the State Security Service searched the ship and found 2,700 anti-aircraft and anti-tank bombs in a container, the crew members said that the deadly cargo was being taken to Uruguay, but how can a cargo meant for Uruguay find its way to Nigeria and they didn’t even get a security clearance to bring it into the country,” a top security officer stated.
It was gathered that the SSS had decided to keep tabs on consignments from Turkey, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other countries  that were perceived to have links with terrorists.
The surveillance on shipment from countries on the watch-list was said to have informed the check on the vessel and the subsequent discovery of the bombs.
The SSS Deputy Director, Public Relations, Marilyn Ogar, who confirmed the development, stated that investigation into the importation of the arms had commenced.

Guide to first time painless sex for virgin couple

Funmi Akingbade
I have had many opportunities to address and counsel many intending couples whose relationships have ended in a good marriage. However in the course of my interactions, unbelievable as it may sound, I have discovered that close to 50 per cent of such intending couples were in a non-sexual relationship and my phones are always very busy with all types of questions on their wedding nights. It is either they do not know what to do sexually or how to go about it. Many ended up with a sexless or frustrated honeymoon.
I want to discuss what spouses who are virgins need to keep in mind before having sex. Not just sex, but a pain-free and memorable experience for both. I believe this will help ease the anxiety and improve the pleasure.
When couples are ready for sex for the first time, the excitement may be so overpowering. On the other hand, it’s very easy to also allow anxiety to take over because for most ladies, one of the most stressful worries is the pain associated with first time sex.  This is when a lady wonders in apprehension what it will be like: Will it hurt? How much does it hurt? Why do ladies bleed? Would I bleed? Will I enjoy it? Am I going to have orgasm? How does an orgasm feel?
The truth of the matter is that many ladies don’t feel any pain at all the first time they have sexual intercourse. Very few ladies actually experience pain that is unbearable. And if you experience any pain at all while having sex for the first time, the pain may be similar to a pinprick. The psychological trauma of imagining how much it would hurt is almost always a lot worse than the actual pain many ladies feel. Also while having sex for the first time, there may be spotting or bleeding because of the tear in the hymen. How much you bleed depends on the size and thickness of your hymen. But if you bleed, you may just notice a bit of spotting on your bed or at times, something that resembles your period stain on the sheets. The hymen could tear for several reasons like vigorous exercises, aerobics, energetic dances or even while getting fingered. So for such ladies, the hymen may not be a sign of virginity, but sexual intercourse. After having sex for the first time, you may continue to bleed a little over a few days. But if you see anything more than a bit of spotting in your underwear or scant traces when you pee, speak to someone you trust in the family or get in touch with your doctor. Few brides who have sex for the first time could experience some soreness for a day or two. It’s natural to feel a bit sore just like you would after a good workout.Start off by helping each other to undress and give room for both of you to refresh yourselves with a good bath. This is necessary to calm you down after the stress of the wedding ceremony you have both gone through. The physical, mental and spiritual exhaustion might affect you negatively if not well handled. It is, therefore, very important to be in a relaxed mood and not compulsorily focus your mind on sex for the night. You still have all other nights to yourselves.  Then just relax and do not look too serious. At this point, you both should chat, say something sweet and romantic to each other. This should be done more by the groom to relax the bride the more. The same goes to the bride, do not appear as a saintly prey and the man as the merciless predator. Give your husband a reassuring look of acceptance and approval. After taking a bath, which you both can have together, change into something comfortable and lovely. The bride should change into something sweet, irresistible, transparent and seductive, preferably a new lacy bra and undies with a good body perfume. The bride just has to smell very good. The groom likewise should change into a good pyjamas, make use of a good perfume, after-shave and comb his hair neatly. The virgin groom on the other hand will also wonder what it will be like. Will I satisfy her? Will I have erection? Am I impotent? Am I a real man? Can I be a father? The best thing to do is to relax and have a loving attitude towards your bride. Do not make it mandatory to have sex or practise all the expert methods that same night.

Man accuses Chinese boss of brutality in Ogun state

According to a report by Punch, a 40 year old man is accusing his Chinese boss and his cousin of brutalizing him. Full report below...
A newly hired employee of a Chinese firm based in the Sagamu area of Ogun State has accused his Chinese boss, Mike Jackson, of brutality.
The victim, Adeleke Owolabi, told Punch Metro that Mike and his cousin, Tony Jackson, brutalised him during an argument in Mike’s office.
Owolabi said he had just been hired by Mike to be a marketer in the northern part of the country.
The 40-year-old victim said, “I have been self-employed for a long time and I met Mike sometime last year. He offered me a marketing job in his company and asked me to resume in the first week of January.

"He produces PVC, a roofing material, and said he wanted to expand to the north and since I needed the job, I accepted. I went on January 6, but he told me to return the following day. However, I could not make it because I travelled. On January 8, I returned and after discussions, he said I should go get a sack in which I could put the PVC into.

“I bought a Ghana-must-go bag of N500 with my own money and one of his former marketers showed me how to package them. I loaded 200 pieces into the sack and I was set for my travel to the north. But Mike said I should proceed to the production section to learn more about the product.”

The graduate of Mass Communications from Olabisi Onabanjo University said when it was about 4pm, he told Mike that he wanted to leave so that he could arrive Kano on time, but an argument ensued.

He said Mike became violent and descended on him.

Owolabi said, “After pleading with Mike, he said I should remove the PVC from the bag and return the bag. As I was doing this, Mike kicked me in my private part. I asked him why he was being wicked to me since he was the one who offered me the job.

“He said I was not handling the PVC properly and they could break. He then slapped me, so I held his shirt in order to stop him, but his cousin, Tony, smashed a bottle on my head and beat me up until I fainted.”

The father of two said when he woke up, he was covered in blood. He said a lady took him to the Makun Police Division from where he was referred to Idera Hospital for treatment.

He alleged that the Chinese men refused to visit him at the hospital and did not offer any apology.
He said the police refused to press charges against the Chinese men.

“The police said since Mike and Tony were foreigners, a lot of things would be involved. I then reported the matter to a human rights organisation and the case was taken to the Nigerian Immigration Service, Ogun State Command. Mike and his cousin came on January 17, and that was the first time they apologised to me and promised to help me secure a Chinese visa,” Owolabi said.

Owolabi said he had been having medical challenges since the incident occurred.
“These days, I find it hard to sleep at night. The doctor said I should do a brain CT and spinal cord     X- Ray and it costs about N45, 000,” he said.
He  urged the government to ensure that Nigerians were not maltreated in their respective places of work.
Attempts to contact Mike on the telephone proved abortive as he did not answer calls made to his telephone and also did not respond to a text message sent to the phone.

Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident, said the case would soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Adejobi said, “The matter was reported at the police station and the lawyers of both parties decided to have settlement talks. However, the aggrieved party was not satisfied as a human rights organisation came to register a complaint. The matter is being transferred to SCID, Eleweran.”
Update: Police detain Chinese for assaulting employee in Ogun
The State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Ogun State, has detained two Chinese nationals, Mike Jackson and Tony Jackson, for allegedly brutalising Adeleke Owolabi, an employee of their company, Jivan Plastic Company.
Owolabi had said the police refused to arrest the Chinese men due to their status as foreigners.
However, it was learnt that after PUNCH Metro’s publication, the police immediately stormed the PVC manufacturing company in Sagamu and whisked the suspects away.
It was learnt that the suspects apologised to Owolabi, who was also at the SCID to write a statement.
Owolabi said, “Yes, the Chinese men have been detained at the SCID and I am satisfied with the action of the police so far. I am happy that the media are helping to ensure that the matter is not swept under the carpet.
“I am not after money but I just don’t want a situation whereby Nigerians are treated badly by foreigners in their own land.”
It was learnt that the suspects would remain in police custody until the completion of investigation.

WTH? California allows first-ever state recognized human-animal marriage?

What kind of report is this? Are they for real or just messing with people? According to this report, a man in San Francisco has legally married his dog in a church officiated by a priest and witnessed by family members. Read this bizarre story below culled from Nationalreport.net
On Monday history was made at the Chapel of Our Lady at the Presidio in San Francisco as the first-ever state recognized human-animal marriage took place.
Local resident 35-year-old Paul Horner was the groom during the ceremony. Joining him was his faithful dog Mac who is 36-years-old in dog years. Mac also decided to be the groom but ended up wearing a white veil at the last moment.

Father McHale who officiated the outdoor wedding told reporters he was extremely happy to be a part of this joyous moment of life. “This is the definition of true love my friends. There is nothing more sacred than the bond between a man and his faithful dog,” McHale said. “Now, since it is recognized as a legally binding marriage in the state of California, Mr. Horner and Mac will have all the same tax benefits and everything else coming to them that a regular married couple would receive. It’s a fantastic day to be alive!”

So how could this have happened?

In the book of California’s State Laws and Regulations there is a little known law that was passed as the state was first forming in 1850. According to article 155, paragraph 10, it clearly states:

If a man and a man can get married and a woman and a woman can get married, if ever comes that day, then a human and animal will have the exact same rights to marriage in every eye of the law. God help us if this ever is to happen!

In attendance was Horner’s entire family who flew in from Hawaii to witness the event. Mac had her puppies on hand and making a special celebrity appearance was Alex from Stroh’s and Spuds Mckenzie.

“I just love my Mac so much, I can’t wait till we can finally get back to the honeymoon sweet in Montana where bestiality is legal. Gosh, get with the times California! We can marry here just fine, but love making is a big no-no,” said Horner. “People keep asking me why I wanted to marry a dog. I told them I just want the same god given rights that every person in California is allowed to have. Don’t tell me I can’t marry my dog. I don’t tell you that you can’t marry a 500 lb woman with gas issues. That’s your decision. Don’t tread on me. I love my dog and I know he loves me a hundred times more than any gay wedding out there.”

With this wedding between a man and a male dog now on the books, one can only ask what is in store next? A man marrying a toaster? A toaster marrying a dog? A toaster marrying a toaster?

America, what happened to the sanctity of marriage? Tsk. Tsk.

Man to die by hanging for stabbing wife to death

The Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, has upheld the death sentence handed a man, Edet Okon, who was found guilty of the offence of murder by a Lagos State High Court and was sentenced to death by hanging, for stabbing his wife to death with a spoon at night.
A three-man panel of the Court of Appeal led by Justice Joseph Ikyegh ordered that Okon be hanged for killing his wife.
The appellant had appealed the judgement, arguing that the lower court erred in law when it dismissed his plea of insanity.
But in a unanimous judgement, the Court of Appeal held that Appeal No. CA/L/553/10 lacked merit and dismissed it.
Justice Ikyegh, who delivered the leading judgement, said Mrs. Okon’s blood was crying for vengeance and her killer husband should   “reap what he has sown; blood for blood.”
Okon had claimed at the lower court that he was insane at the time he stabbed his wife to death and two witnesses called by the defence had given evidence that there were cases of insanity in the family of the appellant.
However the court rejected the evidence adduced in support of Okon’s claim, convicted him of murder and ordered that he should die by hanging.
Aggrieved, Okon took his defence of insanity to the Court of Appeal, urging it to upturn the judgement of the lower court.
But in their judgement, the Appeal Court justices said the High Court was right in rejecting the plea of insanity.
The court further held that the burden of proving insanity rested on the appellant. The appellant, the court added, failed to discharge the burden on him to prove that he was insane at the time of committing the offence.

Presidency slams APC for embarking on anti people campaign

The presidency has warned the All Progressive Congress, APC,  against the acts of war it  has declared on Nigerians through its anti-people directives to its members in the National Assembly who were elected and swore oaths of allegiance to perform  their constitutional duties to their constituencies across the country.
The warning came against the latest directive by APC to its members in NASS to deny the Nigerian Police force its vote in 2014 Budget to press home its demand for the removal of Mr. Joseph Mba as the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State.
In a strongly worded statement made available to the media yesterday, the Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ahmed Ali Gulak said, “the Presidency views with seriousness this latest directive by APC to its members in NASS to continue on the path of confrontation by guerrilla tactics in its war against Nigerian people”
Alhaji Gulak said the APC directives to its members in NASS to starve government and its agencies of funds to execute their statutory and constitutionally assigned roles for the good governance are calls for anarchy to rein of the country. And give APC the opportunity to seize power through undemocratic means. This is the height of irresponsibility and affront on Nigerian people and the state.
To deny the police its votes in the Budget, is most irresponsible and arrogant display of presumed power in the National Assembly.
By now, it should be clear to Nigerians that the APC has a hidden agenda which it can achieve through frustrating through constitutional means of simulating crisis for the presidency of Dr. Jonathan, to provoke social and economic crisis in the country.
According to Gulak, “the action of APC was to threaten, to deny the National Conference of funds, to conduct its activities, the second was to ask its members to shun debate of the budget and screening of the ministerial nominees as well as service chiefs, this time they have included the Police votes, which has serious internal and physical implications even as we prepare for the National conference and the election. Very soon, the APC will go after INEC or any other  critical national institution for that matter “
Gulak said APC has declared an  all out  war a gainst the federal government and the people of Nigeria, but as the government in power, we urge all Nigerians to be vigilant and reject their  ambush  which is reserved for guerrilla situations.
He said, “their tactics so far have failed because the people of Nigeria have discovered that APC and its promoters are not interested in democratic contests but in trying to access power through the back door”’
According to the statement:”APC has no plans to transform Nigeria, because it has not organised itself as a political group, for the task of governance, it has no structures and credible manifesto and candidates to present to Nigerians, even with the release of election time tables at the States and Federal election in this year and 2015, but APC has concentrated its efforts in junketing around with threats of violence and civil anarchy.”

2015: Atiku dumps PDP for APC

STRONG indications emerged yesterday that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will mid next week dump his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Saturday Vanguard gathered yesterday that the decision to take the action and leave the party which gave him a platform to be Nigeria’s Vice President, was borne out of the frustration and humiliation the PDP has made him go through, just as he has concluded nationwide consultative tours of the six geo- political zones of the country where he brainstormed with stakeholders, leaders and supporters on his next political journey ahead of 2015 Presidential election.
A source at his Jabi office told Saturday Vanguard yesterday that Atiku Abubakar has concluded plans to leave PDP for APC, adding, “ Iam optimistic that he will formally leave PDP for APC next week,”
*Atiku
*Atiku
The 2011 Presidential aspirant on the platform of PDP has in the last two weeks visited associates, stakeholders, leaders, Elders in the South South, South East, South West, North Central, North West and North East geo- political zones of the country where majority of them voted for him leaving PDP for APC. Atiku had raised some   grievances against the PDP and substantiated his marginalization of not being wanted, even as he stressed that he is a BOT member by right but he is not being called to its meetings and so does not attend, adding that he is a NEC member by right under the constitution, but he has been barred from its meetings because invitations are not given to him.
He also complained that by the norms of the party, he is entitled to being invited to its PDP caucus and said that Dr. Alex Ekwueme, a former Vice President gets those invitations, but he   gets none of those, adding that he is not considered as a major stakeholder in taking decisions affecting the Adamawa State Chapter of the party.
Atiku had said last week that, “there is a sustained effort by the party managers and government to entrench impunity and not to open up the party for democratic competition.   Above all these, it is clear by now that the Governors who have remained in the party have given Dr. Jonathan an automatic ticket.”
The former Presidential candidate of Action Congress, ACN said last week that as a member of a party that changed to Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and formed a coalition called APC,   he will not be a new person in APC as that is a familiar terrain if he finally joins them because his friends are mostly there and as  a party, it offers what he described as   a real chance for change and reform in the country.
He said, “The citizens are tired of business as usual and seem determined to change from business as usual. He wants to be on the side of the people.”
In a statement he issued last week and titled,   “The Challenges of a Decision,” the former Presidential aspirant on the platform of PDP noted that he has begun consultation tour of Nigeria, Dubai and London, even as he said that there was what he termed   a sustained effort by the party managers and government to entrench impunity and its lack of preparedness to open up the party for democratic competition, adding that his decision to defect to APC may be borne out of the fact that Governors elected on the platform of PDP have already given an automatic ticket to President Goodluck Jonathan for his re- election bid.
Meanwhile, a statement from his office to Saturday Vanguard yesterday said that the former Vice President  yesterday concluded his nationwide consultative meeting with that of the North-East geo-political zone in Bauchi.

The comedian wrote on his blogger link as follows, AY COMEDIAN,@AYCOMEDIAN, AY comedians blog photos, does this lady look like Tonto Dikeh? The lady pictured with…fb.me/147VNvYRI.  Apparently angered by the story, the actress took to her Twitter page to pour out her mind.

Santos to take legal action against Neymar's father over transfer

Santos to take legal action against Neymar's father over transfer
Neymar's father is to face legal action from Santos over his refusal to show the club details of the deal he made with Barcelona in 2011.

The Brazil international moved to Camp Nou in June 2013 for a reported €57.1 million, although figures released by the Catalunya club's new president Josep Maria Bartomeu last Friday indicated the forward cost €86.2m, excluding wages.

However, Santos received only €17.1m of the transfer fee, while €40m went to Neymar Sr's company N&N - co-owned by the 21-year-old's parents - which has caused the Peixe to become curious about the finer points of his deal with the Catalans.

The Selecao star's former club are furious that Neymar's father will only verbally tell them details of the deal and are taking legal action against him, while criticising Barcelona's tactics in the transfer saga.

"There is a way we can know [if what Neymar SR is saying is true]," a Santos representative told Globo Esporte

"Santos made an agreement whereby we sent the documents and everything relating to the negotiation.

"Neymar’s father called me and told me he would come here. He revealed that there was a confidentiality clause, meaning that he could talk, but not show us anything. Santos are going to dispute that [legally] and we are waiting for a response.

"When you have a figure paid such as €40m, what happens is that everybody is suspicious. We feel deeply upset by the statement made by Barcelona, because it wasn’t what we had negotiated."

'What I do?' | The storm around Neymar's move to Barca refuses to subside

Another unhappy party involved in the complex transfer is the DIS group, which claims that Neymar had broken the terms and conditions of their deal by not telling them about Barca's offer in 2011.

The Blaugrana paid Neymar's father €10m up front over two years ago - with the other €30m to paid following an eventual transfer - to ensure that he helped ease through the deal at the expense of other interested clubs, such as Real Madrid.

Santos president Luis Alvaro de Oliveira subsequently denied all knowledge of any 2011 dealings between Neymar Sr and Barcelona, but the player posted a document on Twitter on Wednesday, which seemed to suggest the club chief had signed a contract acknowledging the agreement.

DIS group - third-party investors who have complained that they have not been given their share of the money by Barca for the player's sale - showed Brazilian media details on Thursday that suggested that the agreement breached their pre-existing contract with Neymar.

"The agent promises to communicate to DIS, in writing, within 48 hours from receiving any proposal received that proposes the transfer the athlete Neymar da Silva Santos Jr to another football club," the clause, seen by ESPN Brasil, reads.

"They must inform DIS about the club, the source of payment, the amounts being paid and the payment periods."

Neymar's transfer has also been taken to the courts in Spain, following a complaint from a Barcelona socioabout the legality of the financial aspects of the transfer.

Japan’s New Smart Bra Will Only Unhook Itself For True Love

Everyone laughed last year when Microsoft announced plans to release a “smart bra” that would detect emotions. Now, though, the mecha-bras are upon us, and we’ve got Japan—who else?—to thank.

Dubbed the “True Love Tester,” Japan’s first foray into the budding smart bra industry comes from Ravijour. What makes it “smart” is that the manufacturers claim that the bra will only unclasp itself for true love—which sensors measure through heart rate and other factors over a predetermined amount of time. So, basically, it detects “love” in the physiological sense, which often is mistaken for “being Hot.”

Still, though, Ravijour remains confident in their product, which works in conjunction with a smart phone app to analyze your levels before unlocking your bra—or not. The goal, of course, is to keep the riff-raff out with the help of a finely tuned, digital wingman that under no circumstances will allow any usurpers to the True Love throne through. Unless, you know, you do some jumping jacks first.

The question remains, though: How exactly do you remove the True Love Tester when you’re not, erm, trying to “find true love”? Ravijour doesn’t seem to be worried about that, given that they haven’t highlighted a “self-removal” option in all their advertising. So, as it stands now, it looks like you might need a man to help with this one. In which case, we’re all doomed.

But, then, the investors of the smart bra—both men—probably don’t mind.

Policeman sentenced to death by hanging for killing 20yr old man

Justice has finally come the way of the family of slain Emmanuel Victor (pictured above), a 20 year old young man who was killed in front of his mother by a trigger-happy Policeman, Mathew Egheghe, two years ago in Yenogoa, Bayelsa state.

Victor was shot dead after he confronted a group of policemen who were trying to extort money from motorists as he was coming back from church. Angered by his effrontery to question their action, Policeman Egheghe moved close to Victor and shot him at close range.

Narrating what happened, Victor's mother Grace, who witnessed the incident said:
"They shot my son brutally. As he fell while they were shooting him, the tallest of them still continued shooting him on the ground". She said she was harassed and stopped from going close to her dying son even as he lay gasping for life in the pool of his own blood.
Delivering his judgement on the case, Justice Lucky Boufili said that such a cruel act was only punishable by the maximum penalty which is death. He sentenced Mathew Egheghe to death by Hanging. The police has since dismissed Mathew Egheghe and his two accomplices from the force.

Beyonce to be studied in the University

Queen Bee has joined other celebrities including Oprah and husband Jay Z, (who has a Georgetown University sociology course named after him), who are studied in the University. The course is called Politicizing Beyonce and can be taken at Rutgers University in New Jersey.

The University’s Department of Women’s and Gender Studies will be exploring the social & cultural significance of the songstress’s music and image.

The course will allow fans to explore Beyonce's alter ego Sasha Fierce, and debate the extent of control she has over her own image. They will also debate whether her red hot persona is an outlet of female sexual empowerment or merely complying with western gender stereotypes.

"This isn’t a course about Beyonce’s political engagement or how many times she performed during President Obama’s inauguration weekend. She certainly pushes boundaries. While other artists are simply releasing music, she’s creating a grand narrative around her life, her career, and her persona.’ Kevin Allred, the person in charge of the course at Rutgers University said

*As APC laments defection of Bafarawa, Shekarau to PDP

Abuja—THE All  Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday accused the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of luring former governors of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau and his counterpart in Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa  to the ruling PDP,  saying however that APC was relieved that the two former governors did not leave APC with their supporters.
Interim National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed made tshis known in a telephone interview with Vanguard yesterday.
Mohammed spoke even as 11 PDP senators defected to the APC.
Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr Adamu Mu’azu, condemned automatic tickets for political office seekers describing it as undemocratic.
However, Shekarau said that he left the APC in obedience to the decision of his teeming supporters following mishandling of affairs in the opposition party by a clique.
Addressing supporters in his supporter at his Mudubawa Road,  GRA, Bompai, Kano residence, Shekarau catalogued their frustration in APC, stressing that “the party had been hijacked by cliques that employed undemocratic tactics to ruin the party.”
The 11 senators who formally defected from the PDP to APC include Bukola Saraki-Kwara Central; Umaru Dahiru-Sokoto South and Magnus Ngei Abe- Rivers South-East.
Others include Wilson Asinobi Ake-Rivers West; Bindawa Muhammed Jibrilla-Adamawa North; Mohammed Danjuma Goje-Gombe Central; Aisha Jummai Alhassan-Taraba North; Mohammed Ali Ndume-Borno South; Mohammed Shaba Lafiaji-Kwara North; Abdullahi Adamu-Nasarawa West and Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir-Sokoto East.
This came on a day that Governors Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, LP, and Peter Obi of Anambra, APGA, attended a PDP  caucus meeting with House of Representatives Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal and 100 PDP Reps.
Why I left APC – Shekarau
Shekarau, who played a central role during the formative stage of the opposition merger party accused the APC of violating critical norms of democracy, pointing out that “within these six months, various unconstitutional decisions have been passed by a clique of the leadership of the party, and in our position as bonafide members of that party then, we challenged such decisions. We presented written petitions signed by over 250 stakeholders on December 18, 2013. Today is exactly six weeks since we presented that petition, no acknowledgement, no contact, no one has referred to us to address the petition we have submitted.
“APC has nothing to show in this last six months, there is nothing on ground, not a single member of APC has been registered, not a single leadership structure exists anywhere within the states. No structure of interim leadership at ward levels, at local government levels, at state levels.
“Up till this time, we are yet to receive any detailed programme of democratic elections to produce leaders of the party at various levels. To our dismay and to our surprise, within the six months which was the formal and official constitutional period given the interim leadership of the party, we now hear that leadership of the interim has no limited period.”
The former Presidential flag bearer of the defunct All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP,  maintained that “failure to address these petitions is a clear indication to us that the leadership of APC has taken sides and is not prepared to listen to genuine grievances which are against the spirit of democracy, adding that “it was against the spirit of fair hearing and against the spirit of social justice for which the party stands for. “
Shekarau declared: “It is as a result of this very conspicuous display of injustice that the stakeholders of the ANPP of Kano assembled here today, moved a motion, which has been passed and supported, that we members of the defunct ANPP of Kano State do hereby denounce our membership of the All Progressive Congress, APC.”
Shekarau declared to the admiration of his supporters that “we dump the party from this moment; and based on the motion moved and adopted and accepted unanimously, we the members of ANPP stock of Kano State are moving en mass and collectively into the Peoples Democratic Party.”
He, therefore, called on his supporters across various divide to disassociate themselves with anything that has to do with the APC and “join hands with our brothers, our sisters and our fellow citizens of Nigeria to take the country to greater heights.”
11 PDP senators defect to APC
The APC, which announced the defection of the senators, in a statement signed by Mohammed, said that a ‘’ formal letter to this effect had been delivered to Senate President David Mark and was expected to be read on the floor of the Senate yesterday afternoon.”
Mohammed further stated that “This is only the first batch of many other senators of the PDP expected to defect to the APC soon.”
Just before the National Assembly went on recess last December, 37 members of the House of Representatives defected from PDP to APC.
Since last November when five PDP governors defected to the APC, the ruling party had been hit by defections of many legislators elected on its platform at both federal and state levels.
Obi, Mimiko at PDP NWC crucial meeting with Reps
Mu’azu, who spoke after a closed-door caucus meeting with PDP members of the House of Representatives, waved aside the possibility of automatic tickets for lawmakers.
Also, to the surprise of even PDP Reps, Governors Mimiko and Obi startled all when they walked alongside Governor of Akwa Ibom, Godswill Akpabio at about 9.05pm yesterday into the venue of the meeting.
The PDP Chairman, however, clarified issues on free tickets saying: “automatic tickets are given for parties that are undemocratic.  We have a democratic process and we will go through that, those that deserve it will surely be there”.
On the promise by his predecessor to give the members in the National Assembly automatic tickets , Mu’azu said, “ I have no knowledge of what you are telling me. “
Asked what the thrust of the meeting was, the PDP leader said, “it is normal consultation meeting between the party leadership and the caucus of the party in the House of Representatives that is what we came here to do.”
Before the meeting, however, Mu’azu had while responding to a demand by House Leader, Mulikat Akande-Adeola said he would reserve his comment on the matter till the end, saying they would look into it.
The PDP chairman also denied the existence of any arrangement by immediate past chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, to give the lawmakers automatic tickets.
Responding to a question on such an arrangement, Mu’azu said, “as far as I’m concerned, I’m hearing it for the first time from you. I’m not aware of such arrangement in the PDP before now.”
Asked why he seemed to have turned down the idea when his initial comment suggested he might have supported it, Mu’azu said, “this thing about body language or sign language; I have mouth to talk when I want to say something, and that is what I just told you; no automatic ticket.”
Akande-Adeola had demanded that “Members of this House will want to be re-assured of the party’s promise of automatic tickets in the forthcoming election, their welfare and opportunity to nominate membership of various committees from their respective constituencies whenever the need arises.”
On the outcome of the meeting, Mu’azu said it was fruitful as the PDP NWC and nine governors of the party were in the House as part of their consultation process.
Present at the meeting were Chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduagham, Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Yero and Kebbi State Governor and Saidu Usman Dakingari.
Others were Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State, Babangida Mu’azu of Niger State, Liyel Imoke of Cross River State, Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State and Taraba acting governor, Garba Umar.
The meeting also had in attendance Speaker of the House, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha, House  deputy leader, Leo Ogor and about 100 other PDP lawmakers.
Mimiko and Obi simply told journalists on their way out of the complex that they  accompanied Gov Akpabio to the venue from another meeting.
Why I didn’t leave  PDP  –Aliyu
Meanwhile, the Niger State governor, Babangida Aliyu who was also at the PDP national secretariat with a delegation from his state explained why he did not join his G5 colleagues to dump the PDP for APC.
Aliyu said:  “I led a protest, which came to be known as G7. It was not intended to kill the party and move away. Many people asked me, ‘you led the group how come you did not move?’ I didn’t move because my conscience, understanding and my position is with the PDP. And I believe in 2015, PDP will form the government.”
The Niger State governor who hailed the emergence of Mu’azu as chairman of the party, stressed that the travails he went through after his tenure as governor of Bauchi State were preparatory to his emergence as chairman of the PDP at these trying times, adding that his return has brought hope to the party and they can hold their heads high. He stressed that the challenges faced by the party will make them face elections in 2015 better.
