Grammy award-winning music video director Aswad Ayinde who was sentenced to 90 years in the United States for fathering six children with his own daughters is not a Nigerian, Nigerians abroad have said.
News broke last weekend that a Nigerian music director based in the United States had been jailed for impregnating his daughter.
The story went viral on the internet and was posted to the social media.
However, Nigerians abroad have reacted to the story, saying the man is not a Nigerian. Rather, he adopted Nigerian name, Aswad Ayinde later in life.

A Nigerian living in the United States Rotimi Ogunsuyi writing on social medias and on Vanguardngr.com said “This is a tragedy that should not be attributed to Nigeria. Mr. Ayinde is NOT a Nigerian.
“He is an American, born and raised in the US. He just assumed a Nigerian name later in life.”

The Facebook post said Aswad Ayinde’s real name is Charles McGill. He lives in Paterson, New Jersey.
