Owerri – Imo Governor Rochas Okorocha on Friday called on the Federal Government to restructure the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for maximum performance.
A statement from Government House, Owerri, signed by Peace Akutah, said the governor made the call when the executive of the Association of Traditional Rulers of Oil Minerals Producing Communities of Nigeria (TROMPCON) paid him a courtesy visit.
It said the governor criticised the poor management of oil derivation fund and the high level of deceit among the NDDC management.
It also said Okorocha criticised implementation of policies that did not touch the people at the grassroots and the abandonment of NDDC projects.
The statement said the governor called on the Federal Government to put seasoned and credible hands to man the affairs of the NDDC.
It also said he advocated that traditional rulers be included in governance in the commission to ensure full implementation of developmental programmes and projects.
The statement said members of the association should work for the peace, unity, progress of the nation.
