Driver charged with woman’s death, reckless driving

A driver, Wahab Idiagbon, who allegedly killed a housewife through reckless driving, was yesterday brought before an Apapa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The 32-year-old driver, who lives in Ajegunle area of Apapa, is facing a two-count offence of manslaughter and dangerous driving.
The accused, however, denied the charges.
But the prosecutor, ASP Soji Ojaokomo, insisted that the accused committed the offences on January18 at 9.40 p.m. on Ojukwu Street, Apapa.
According to him, the accused hit one Mrs Florence Williams with his car who was later confirmed dead.
Ojaokomo also alleged that Idiagbon drove an SUV with number plate FP 804 EKY recklessly without respect for other road users.
The offences, he noted, contravened Sections 19 (1) and 20 of the Road Traffic Act, Laws of Lagos State.
The Chief Magistrate, Oluyemisi Adelaja, admitted the accused to a bail of N200,000 in addition to one surety in like sum.
She said the surety should show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government as part of the bail conditions.
The case was adjourned to January15 for mention.
