Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) that would serve as ad-hoc staff for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the August 9 governorship election in Osun State have been warned against engaging in any act that is capable of constituting electoral offences.
The Osun state Commissioner for Special Duties and Regional Affairs, Mr. Bashiru Ajibola gave the warning while featuring on a programme tagged “Newspoint”, organised by the state Correspondents’ chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Osogbo.
According to Ajibola, NYSC members, as fresh graduates, should uphold the sanctity of the constitution of the country and work towards the peaceful conduct of the election by shunning any act capable of marring the election.
The commissioner appealed to the corps members that would work with the electoral body in the state to be fair and transparent throughout the exercise saying they can’t afford to fail the state and the country at large.
