According to information gotten from some students of the department, they were protesting against many irregularities of their HOD, Dr. Chukwudi Igbe. Amongst the grievances of the students were that lecturer since he assumed office in 2014 has continued to mark down the results of the students whose interest he should be protecting.
The students interviewed said that their HOD has continually frustrated their academics by reducing their exam scores thereby jeopardizing their efforts to succeed.
A 400 level student of the department said"The computer science department students from 200 to 400 went on a peaceful protest to tell the school what had been happening in our department. Number one, missing scripts, we have been having a lot of missing scripts in the department. Like in my level, the 400 level, somebody did not see his results, all of his 12 courses were missing scripts, for the second person who managed to see only one result, it was an "F" while the rest were missing scripts. Secondly we have finished our industrial training since and although others have already defended since, we have not finished our defence while other departments have started working towards their seminar defence. Also the latest graduates that graduated last year have not finished their project defence."
He continued,

He continued,
" These led to the protest yesterday in which the whole students of the department matched to the officeof the dean of Faculty of Science and he said he will get back to us by Friday and we told him that by Friday, if nothing is done we will go to the Vice Chancellor and if they do nothing we will match to the government house. For now, the 200 to 400 level students are not having lectures till we receive a positive response from the school management.... We want them to remove the HOD, secondly, we want them to give us our main result not the composite result, the HOD gave us the composite result which is not the main result. Our former HOD, Dr. Ajero gave us our real results but I don't know what is wrong with Dr. Chukwudi Igbe. From the onset we did not like him".
Another student corroborated what Emmanuel said. According to him, three students had seen their main results from the secretary to the HOD but later the HOD gave their course representative a composite result to post where most of the students failed. He said only about 25 or 30 students have defended their industrial training experience. He recounted that last year, Dr. Igbe released a result on the day of exam which had a lot of failures. He also said that a particular course that the HOD handles has stopped many students from graduating as at when due.

According to him, three students had seen their main results from the secretary to the HOD but later the HOD gave their course representative a composite result to post where most of the students failed. He also said that a particular course that the HOD handles has stopped many students from graduating as at when due.
However we are yet to get a statement from any staff of the school or the HOD of computer science department,
