Chelsea have no other way around it, they will have to pay a massive £54 million if they want to land the services of Edinson Cavani in the summer window, according to his current employers Napoli.
Aurelio De Laurentiis, the Napoli president, has announced that the Uruguayan will not be allowed to leave the club for anything less than his buy-out clause, which is set at €63m.
“Cavani has another four years left to run on his contract and the buy-out fee is 63 million euros,” said Laurentiis in comments reported in the Italian media.
“We have received offers from him but for figures much lower than the release clause.” (TalkSport)
The blues are willing to offer Fernando Torres as part of the deal, but it seems Napoli want the money and it will be very interesting to see if owner Roman Abramovic stumps up the massive fee for the goal-machine.
