Former Real Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho launched a scathing attack on forward Cristiano Ronaldo, stating his compatriot doesn’t accept criticism because he thinks he knows everything.
In his final interview as Real Madrid manager with Spanish television programme, Punto Pelota, Mourinho spoke about his rumoured rift with Cristiano Ronaldo and explained that he really did leave him out of the final match of the season due to injury.
“Cristiano has played three fantastic seasons, all of them, with me. I don’t know if they were the best of his career because he had some great ones in Manchester too, as he would tell you. I think we found him in a great tactical situation to get the most out of his goal-scoring potential. I had just one problem with him, very simple, very basic and it’s from a tactical aspect that I noticed, which I brought up in order to improve upon and make him better and he didn’t accept it because he thinks he knows everything and the manager can’t possibly help him to get any better. But that’s the only problem. These past two games he has not played, were just about the only ones he hasn’t played under me, because he gives everything to Real Madrid, he felt pain in his back and I never take any chances with injuries to my players.”
