After the crisis that threatened to foil Nigeria’s participation at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup,the Super Eagles have finally touched down in Brazil for the competition.
Nigeria’s participation would have been scuttled, after the Super Eagles blatantly refused to board the plane after their World Cup qualifier against Namibia, over bonus row with the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF).
With the long drawn row,the Super Eagles missed their flight to Johannesburg,South Africa, where they would have connected to Sao Paulo,Brazil; which ultimately led to the disruption of their travel plans.
But after government’s intervention and also FIFA’s role in ensuring that the Super Eagles arrived in Brazil last night, and with the aid of the chartered flight that FIFA provided, they got to Belo Horizonte, around 3am on Sunday.
“We are most grateful to the Sports minister for his intervention in the matter, which means the team can now travel to Brazil on Saturday and arrive in Belo Horizonte before the first match against Tahiti on Monday,” said Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) general secretary Musa Amadu.
Nigeria will now play their first game of the competition on Monday against Oceanian champions,Tahiti[/quot
However, my worry now is that will late arrival of Super Eagles not affect their game on Monday?
